Centerpiece help

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married in Hawaii this July 11, 2010 and following our wedding we are celebrating with a traditional luau. We felt that since we are getting married in Hawaii and we wanted a laid back vibe that the luau was a great idea for the reception.  But due to the fact that it is a destination wedding we knew alot of people wouldnt make it so we are having a wedding reception back home.

The reception is July 25, 2010 in Katy at Adorable Banquet Hall- it was in our price range and luckily they do almost everything. If I wasn't already married I would have been a little more picky about the venue.. but really it is just the after party. I am trying to carry out the same theme as the wedding- tropical feel- seashell theme and pink & turqouise. If you go to my photos in my bio you will see my flower inspiration or my blog natetriciaembley.blogspot.com  I am using two varying centerpieces both in cylinder vases and pink orchids. The low centerpieces will have orchids floating and seashells- the tall will have willow branches with orchids cascading.   Well my FI has really only been involved in the wedding when it comes to the budget, and I recently told him I would like more of his input (he has also been volunterring to help with things such as stuffing envelopes and favors).

Well after I asked for his input.. he told me that he would love Irish Jig Dancers and Bagpipes at the reception- that is all great and everything but we just booked a DJ and a guitarist for the cocktail hour.. so I dont have wiggle room in the budget for irish entertainment.  After I explained that to him he was ok with it because he loves the guitarist.  Then he suggested putting gold fish in our larger table centerpieces. Which can be in the budget..

Any suggestions on live fish? Has anyone dont this successfully.. and on top of that what will I do with a bunch of goldfish afterwards?  Any other tropical suggestions to help make our reception a little more original? We are doing chocolate shells as favors, starfish with place cards tied to them for seating, and arondock chairs to sign as our guest book.. any suggestions are welcome.. I just want the guests to feel like Hawaii is in Katy. Elegant Hawaii too..
