I have seen lots of posts regarding kid-friendly weddings, but nothing about babies. Hoping you can help us out!
We have had a baby-boom in our lives recently, and we approximate that there could be 11 babies at the wedding - all under the age of 3, with most being a year old or less.
We have absolutely no problem with babies at the wedding, but our concern was how to make everyone comfortable during the reception. The best solution that we were able to come up with is to have a baby-friendly room. There will be a room on the same floor of the reception where the bridesmaids and I will be getting ready before the wedding. After that, the room will be free. Our plan will be to use that space for mom's to nurse, for diapers to be changed, a little quiet time if the music/dancing gets a little overwhelming, etc. We will not be having baby-sitters (with so many babies, we would have to hire at least 2-3 babysitters, and I don't know any girls that age that I could trust).
Since we don't have kids (yet!), we're not quite sure what we should have in the room. When I sent out an email to the moms, they commented, "that's a great idea! you're so thoughtful!" but didn't really give me any real feedback. This is the first event most of these babies will be going to, so a lot of the mom's didn't quite know what they would need.
So far my list includes:
DVD player with some baby friendly movies
Crayons and butcher paper
Sleeping bags
Diapers, wipes, powder, etc
Chairs
Blocks
Books
Large block cars/trains with a mat
Can you guys think of anything else I may be missing? Has anyone attempted this yet?
Thanks for all your feedback!
