Groom's Cake

Is a groom's cake something that you can do at the RD?

Or is a strictly reception only type of thing?

You can do it at either.  We had ours at the wedding next to the wedding cake.  DH loved it so I wasn't going to ask him to have it in a place where only a few of the guests would get to see it.

I've mostly seen it as an RD thing.  It can end up being too much cake if you have it at the wedding.

I saw it at one wedding but I'm not sure it even got cut.

You can do it at both. Being from the South I have seen them only at the reception and they always get cut and eaten. It is usually some form of chocolate (while the wedding cake isn't) and people tend to get a piece of what they like (or both!!!!)
