first dance song- opinions?

I really like the song "stay with you" by John Legend (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY6yIn77IcY). I feel like the lyrics apply to my fiance and I, as we have been together for 8 years (more than a quarter of my life!), and we have had many "ups and downs" (not so much in our relationship, but dealing with (together) the death of my father and little sister, as well as my Mom battling breast cancer (she has been cancer free for 6 years now! ), and his step father suffering from terminal cancer, just to name a few things).  I just want some opinions- is the mentioning of "when the dark clouds arrive" to much of a downer for a first dance song at a wedding?  What do you think of this song? TIA

I think it's a great song.  It's saying that even through the ups and downs and dark times, you'll stay together and make it through together.  That's what marriage is.  I think it's perfect.

Realize too that most people won't really be listening to all of the words anyway.

Two of my best friends used that as their wedding song and I thought it was great.  I wouldn't worry that the mention of "dark clouds" in the lyrics is going to somehow put a damper on the mood - it's a beautiful song about commitment.

If this song really means something to you and your FI then you should definitely use it. It isn't about what other people think, it is about what the two of you want. And like Danieliza said ..How many people will actually remember what song you danced to? Remember that the wedding is for you and your FI, not for everyone else, Do what makes you happy!
