centerpiece dillema!

My mom and I have been playing around with some traditional centerpiece ideas -- square vase w/flowers, some votives, etc. Then we realized our dinner is being served family style so there will be more stuff on each table than normally. I still want a centerpiece but don't want it to get "lost" with everything else. That being said, I'm not really a fan of tall centerpieces. Hoping someone can give me an idea for an alternative thats still about 11in or less but "stands out" amongst serving dishes. Thanks in advance ladies!!

  • maybe one of those skinny vases that you put one flower in?
  • I think you can find a great square vase that will work and won't blend in.  I saw a gorgeous display once of Three tall rectangle glass vases, probably about 12 inches high, and each of them had one or two white tulips submerged in water.  It looked simple and stunning.  Something like that can really make a statement and keep the centerpieces more linear, leaving more room around the table.  Good Luck, hope this helped.
  • what about taper candles?
  • some ideas
instead of sand and sea shells you can use a little water with maybe a drop of food coloring to match your wedding and put some fresh flowers inside and a few votives around the centerpiece. fresh, different, small, and cost effective
  • i believe they have the small square glass containers at michaels 2 or 3 dollars, i think they used fruit for this centerpiece but you can use anything really, gemstones, gravel, colored stones, and just put your favorite bloom in it with some water and maybe some flower petals on the table. and you can prepare this the day or 2 days before because the flowers will be fine in water
