Weddingmoon/Reception

My fiance and I are getting married on a cruise with only our parents attending. We then plan on going back home to western Tennessee to have a reception with all of our family and friends. This is all going to take place in late October/early November. I would like the theme of the reception to tie in with the cruise but I'm not sure how practical a beach theme would be that late in the year. I would appreciate any ideas or comments and please be honest!

Re: Weddingmoon/Reception

  • You don't have to do a full on beach theme with sand and seashells. Try using nautical colors such as navy blue and yellow. They have some gorgeous pics on The Knot of nautical themed weddings.
  • I think because you are having an at-home reception after an intimiate, immediate family only wedding, you can think about the reception as such and not as a party (which it would be if you were having a DW for a some guests and then something to celebrate back in the States).  Because its a reception, I would say you don't need to go overboard on the beach theme - maybe think more about vibrant colors and tropical flowers than recreating the beach at your reception venue and emphasize those colors that are both tropical and fallish - reds and oranges.  You could try small beach touches - sand or seashells incorporated into your centerpieces, for example.  GL!

  • beaches exist all year round :)
you can use beachy tones-blues, white , off whites, sand etc... and tie in elements like shells, beach grass, etc...
