center pieces

I am still in the planning stages; I dont even have my colors picked yet but I really like the idea of having  bonsai trees as my center pieces with candles as accents, almost like a mini zen garden.

Any opinions??

Re: center pieces

  • I think it's a super cute idea.  But do you think if you did that then you'd have to stick with the oriental theme for your wedding?  Or is that the way you're wanting to go?  I think anytime you go away from the traditional flower centerpiece it's going to be a good idea.  In my opinion flower center pieces are a waste of money since they will just die anyway.  But also to go along with the zen garden idea...you could have those mini sand boxes with the rake...aren't those supposed to go with a zen garden?  Hahaha...just an idea.
  • I disagree with pp.  Have the bonsai trees for your CPs if you like them.  But your entire reception doesn't have to be Asian themed just because you have one Asian element.

I doubt that anyone would find fault with a lovely Asian inspired CP, while the meal, attire of the WP, invitations, and more are not Asian.  I frankly don't think anyone would even notice.

Now, having said that,  your wedding is a year and half away.  In the coming months, you are going to change your mind over and over and over again.  Keep a notebook for inspiration ideas, but don't start buying those little trees yet!  You may find yourself changing your mind.....especiallywhen you start to price out Bonsai trees!  =)
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I agree with the PP on everything said.
