Decor on a Yacht

Hello fellow Knotties!
I need your help and inspiration.  We have just secured our reception site, and will be holding it on a luxury yacht for a SF Bay cruise....I'm beyond excited!!  My next challenge will be coming up with decor for the ship.  The coordinator there is positively fantastic, and said that we will be able to drop everything off a few days before the wedding, and she will take care of setting it all up for us!  Any ideas for what to use for decor on a yacht?  Our colors are chocolate brown, light pink, and light orange.  Linens provided are black and white.  Any thoughts and ideas you all have would be most appreciated!
Thanks,
Elizabeth

  • I'd use the white linens only and skip the black with your color scheme. Get floral centerpieces in your colors.  Use encased candles in lanterns if the yacht allows it for additional ambiance (or even flameless candles in lanterns). You could use brown rope as an accent throughout the centerpieces.  Use brown compass-roses or anchors as a motif throughout the paper goods--place cards, programs, etc.
  • what's the length of the yacht and how many guests?

  • Thanks so much for the ideas Nola!
Ali, we're expecting around 150 guests, and the boat is 124 feet long, with 4 decks.

I agree with retread. that sounds like a really great reception setting. There are so many little nooks and crannies on yachts. Small vases of (perhaps silk flowers to avoid the whole real flower/water/spilling issue) put around all over would allow you to spread your color scheme around without going overboard (hahah excuse the pun). I'm assuming no flame candles will have to be used? Perhaps small votive holders in blue /white etc.. or those mixed in wtih your colors.
