Wedding Reception Forum

great reception idea; photo booth

I got this idea from The Knot and it was a highlight of my reception.  A lot of people talking about it and enjoying the service.  We used Party Booths but I would imagine any photo booth vendor would do the trick.  Party Booths was outstanding: great set-up, friendly person on hand, beautiful prints.  One word of advice if you use a different vendor: don't use an open format (one where other guests can see people as their photos are taken.  Some of your guests won't let their hair down.  Use one that's like a booth with a curtain.  Also, to ensure the best, and more fun photos, don't have the vendor show photos on a big screen; if people know their photos will be displayed, they'll censor themselves.  Great fun.

Re: great reception idea; photo booth

  • Do you happen to own a photo booth?
  • Wow! What a totally unique and awesome idea.  I can't believe that no bride has ever, ever thought of having a photo booth before!

If it walks like a vendor, and talks like a vendor.....
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I think you'd have to be living on the moon to be planning a wedding right now and not know what a photobooth is or how it works.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • what is this "photo" & "booth" thing you speak of???!!!???

I wouldn't buy from "Party Booths" though.  Around here, that's what you call the booths in the back of porn stores where the pervs go.  I can picture it now!  " Hey grandma, wanna go into the Party Booth?" *pearl clutching ensues*
  • You know I was dead set against having a photo-booth. To me, they seemed like a giant waste of money, that could be well spent towards, say having an open bar or a tastier wedding cake.

But after reading this post, I am totally sold on the idea. I can't believe I never saw it this way before. I just don't understand how any couple could get married nowadays WITHOUT one present at their reception. I mean, let's face it, the best way to be unique and cutting edge is to blindly follow the advice of some random internet stranger that couldn't possibly be a vendor in disguise.

Thank you, thank you, a thousand times thank you for making me see the error of my ways. Not only will my marriage now be valid, and my reception the event of the year, but I somehow feel that I am now a better Christian, my cholesterol has been lowered, and I've lost 25 lbs in just 1 day.

  • I LOVE the photo booth idea. I saw a company at a bridal show in Des Moines and if I had the money in my budget, I would get one without a doubt. They were fun, personable, and they had great photos and ideas! Plus ther was no limit to the photos taken, there was a curtain, and they had a photo-guest book as a great keepsake for the bride and groom!
  • megk8oz you had me howling  Thanks for the laughs.
