small wedding/ no or little dancing

My plan is to have a ceremony and 1/2 hr cocktail hour followed by a sit down dinner. That is it. I may have a 2 piece band playing music.  That is ideal for me. I do not like dancing, do not like being in the spotlight.  The place that I am looking at is on the water with a beautiful view of Manhattan. Here's my question; has anyone done this? Is it ok to not have time allotted for dancing?  The dinner will be from 1-4pm on a Sunday. I want people to enjoy themselves so I'm wondering if it would be chincy to not have dancing. I would love to hear ideas and input!

Thanks

  • That sounds fine.  Just be aware that people might not stay the full three hours if there isn't dancing, but just give them good food and good background music and they'll mingle.  I know a lot of people have done restaurant receptions with no dancing.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Serve enough alcohol, and they'll be dancing anyway, lol!

Seriously, it will be fine if you are not into dancing. I've been to lots of weddings with no dancing, and had just as much fun.
  • I went to a wedding with DH in Sept that was lovely and had no dancing.  We had a great time, it was an afternoon-early evening event and it also reflected the bride and groom and their friends well.
  • I think that sounds great.  Just like a big dinner party!  Nice!
