Favors

We have decided to do a donation to the American Cancer Society instead of favors.

I would love everyones thoughts our other ideas. Do you think our guests would be upset about not taking something home with them?? I know it seems silly to think they would but not everyone feels or thinks the same.

We had talked about doing a fortune cookie and the in side script saying something like:

In loving memory of those who have fought and lost, in loving appreciation for those who have fought and won, and in loving support of those who are still fighting. A donation has been made to the American Cancer Society in honor of the guests of our special day.

THANKS LADIES!!

Re: Favors

  • I disagree with PP. The donation favor idea is a good idea. What you could do is print up a tag for each guest, that says you donated to American Cancer Society with your guests in mind. My Fi and I are thinking about donating to Plant a billion.org and making tags that say we donated a dollar for a tree in your name! We are having about a hundred or so guests and it is a dollar per tree so we are going to buy 100 trees.

  • Donations are not favors. They should be kept private between you and the charity. Your guests don't want to know about them, nor do they need to. If you do advertise it, it comes across as pompous and self-serving despite your best intentions. Whatever you do, do *not* make donations in guests' names without informing them first.
