Awkward chairs need some coverage

I'm really at a loss here! These are the chairs that are available for us to use at our chosen reception place...

Sorry for the small picture, but that's what the site provides. I hope you can still see what they're like though...just standard business-conference-type chairs. I've called several rental places and they don't have covers for these. What can I do that would be relatively inexpensive, but also something that I can DIY? I've got about 60-70 to cover, so any good ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

What exactly is the problem? Dim the lights and use a ton of candles if you don't want to look at the chairs. But as long as there is nothing else wrong with them, no one will notice or care what they look like when they sit down.

They'll be covered by your guests' butts.  I don't see how anything else is necessary.

I obviously want chair covers or I wouldn't be asking how to cover them. "Don't use any," isn't really helpful advice. When I have plum and orange wedding colors, teal chairs are an eye sore.

Yick, I would want to cover those too!  I don't know where you can get chair covers for those, but is there a rental place nearby that maybe you could rent nice looking chairs that you wouldn't have to cover?

Our ballroom came with standard chairs...  I agree that ugly/uncoordinating chairs detract from otherwise beautiful decor.  So we rented some.  Pics in bio.

I'd be renting chairs....call all over or check your local wedding board on The Knot to see if anyone knows of any chair rental places and how much they are paying. I looked and looked and was able to find a great deal. If thats not helpful, ask your florist or linen person for leads. All those vendor people all know each other so I'm sure you could get some leads that way too.

how about adding a plum cushion and a large orange sash to tie over the back.  The covers are probably going to be really floppy over those chairs.

agreed with the @$$ coverings.  Why waste money on something guests do NOT care about? really, how many pictures will be taken of the chairs?  Minimal amount.  Plus, when you sit on covered chairs, they are slippery!  With the lights dimmed low, and candles, no one will care.

And if you choose to have attitude over people's answers, like Stage said, google it yourself.

She just pointed out the obvious that she was looking for ideas on how to cover the chairs...  Telling her that she should "get over it" or "it's not important" or "no one will care" doesn't really help her cover the chairs now does it?

The chairs may not be important to you, but to her they are.  They were important to me as well.  I wouldn't want to go with those chairs if they clashed with my overall decor. 

As for pictures, take a look at these two.  Can you honestly say that the room would have looked as just as nice with standard ballroom chairs?

Regular chairs would have detracted from the decor, whereas these help pull the look together.  Again, maybe you don't care, but I do and so does she.  Different strokes ;)

krystle: agreed. "don't cover them" is horrible advice. Something MUST be done with those chairs.

I think it would cost about the same to bring in your own chairs as it would to DIY. And I can't IMAGINE that place won't let you (considering the chairs they offer!!!). I just checked and you can rent them in my area for $3 a chair. Wooden folding chairs would work fine. Is $210 out of the budget?

Thanks for the helpful responses guys, I appreciate it immensely. ExpatPumpkin, your wedding looked beautiful and I'm glad you can see where I'm coming from! Could you imagine teal chairs in the middle of all that? Haha.

And to StageManager14 and CA2MT4EveR, I think you guys need to go back and reread my comment. I wasn't being rude or demanding...I just didn't need a dozen responses telling me not to cover them when the question is how do I cover them. It was a simple reminder of my predicament, nothing more.
