theme ideas?

So I always figured we would marry in the fall and would do a rustic, autumn theme, with burnt orange and pumpkins and hay etc.  It turns out we will be marrying ne3xt spring.  Ive picked colors, purple and gray, but dont actually have a theme.  I need some sort of vision.  The Autumn idea was so perfect, easy and sort of common sense.  But what about spring tome? I mean flowers arent really a theme. i need some sort of rustic country (HIM) chic (ME).  Any ideas?

Re: theme ideas?

  • When I thikn purple and grey I don't think of anything rustic country.  it is definitely more of a chic and modern thing.  You also have to think of wher eyour wedding ceremony and reception are being held.  If you have a modern or super elegant place then it won't match the rustic country theme either.  i know i'm not much help but there is a lot of things you need to look at before deciding on your theme.

and your theme may be as simple as a monogram.  start googling purple and grey weddings. you will be amazed at what you find. good luck!

  • You don't need a theme. "Your wedding" can be a theme in and of itself. I think a lot of people read about weddings having themes and feel they MUST have one, but it's not necessary. Those colors sound pretty; I would just go from there and start picking some decor you like; you could even pick an accent color if you wanted.

Why oh why do people feel that they need a theme for their wedding?  It is a wedding, not a birthday party.

Just pick a color scheme (which you have and it sounds very pretty) and just plan a nice party.  Just pick things that the two of your like...no need for any theme.

  • I understand where you're coming from.  It sounds like you're having a hard time deciding what "feel" you'd like for your wedding.  I'd let your venue be the starting point.  Obviously the sorts of flowers and decor you pick for a modern art gallery venue would be different than those at a historic mansion even if you used grey and purple for both.

You also might find inspiration in surprising places.  I ended up making most of my style decisions based on the invitations that I fell in love with.  The invitation just had a certain "feel" to it (in my case, "graceful, elegant, Southern, understated") and I wanted everything else to fit in with it.

ETA:  I just googled "Rustic Purple and Grey Wedding" and "Edgy Purple and Grey Wedding"  and it's clear how the little details make such a difference in the vibe.
