Linen wrinkling question

I have 8 polyester tablecloths and 8 satin overlays that are super wrinkly. I have 9 days til my wedding. I'll need to iron or steam the satin overlays. I'm thinking of washing and drying the polyester covers to remove the wrinkles. Are there any special tricks to removing the wrinkles?

After removing the wrinkles, is there any way to store them until the wedding so that they don't get creases? I'm thinking folding or hanging will cause creases - How do I avoid creases? Any suggestions?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Laughing

Re: Linen wrinkling question

  • Thank you for taking this into consideration. Wrinkly tablecloths at weddings are a huge pet peeve of mine. I watched that David Tutera show once and noticed that all the tablecloths were wrinkly and had creases. You think after spending $100k plus on a wedding you could at least have ironed the tablecloths.

Okay sorry, rant over. Some dry cleaning places have huge ironing roller things that are large enough for tablecloths. You could probably get them to iron them for a low fee. If you stack the tablecloths on top of each other and then fold them in half they won't have a crease.
  • Well ironing would be the easiest way to get the wrinkles out.  But for storing you could by a wooden dowel (make sure it is thick enough to hold the weight of the table cloths) and then roll the cloths onto the dowels.  This way you won't have any creases.  But even if you get them professionally pressed they will still fold them for storage so you will always have some creases in the table cloths.

Iron them and then fold them. When you lay them on your tables, mist them with a spray bottle, it will release the few creases you will have. Just make sure you have time for them to dry. This is for the polyester ones. I have no idea about the satin ones. Good luck!!
