Glasses for the bar

I don't really want to pay to rent more glassware for the bar, is it completely terrible to have the nice, clear plastic cups for bar drinks and wine? I think we will do bottled beer to avoid the issue there.

Re: Glasses for the bar

  • Completely terrible? Absolutely not. Glass looks nicer certainly, but your guests will care far more about what's inside the drinkware as opposed to what it's made of!

  • I had that same thought.

I bought nicer plastic glasses for the champagne toast and then signature drinks.    Then we decided to do was get red cups for the rest of the open bar drinks.  To kick off the opening of cocktail hour, we're having the DJ play Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup"

that way it can add a fun "theme" to the cocktail hour and i can get by with using plasticware.
  • Thanks everyone! we are having mason jars for water glasses and mis-matched vintage china for plates along with mismatched vintage flatware. So it might be weird to have plastic in the mix but if its nice looking no ones oging to care once its time to start drinking... plus thats one less vendor to worry about! (my venue also does not have a kitchen or anything included).
