Table Runners??

My wedding is inspired by the book Pride and Prejudice, with everything having the feel of the Regency period in England. If you've ever read the book, or watched one of the movies then you can kinda see what I'm going for.

I'm trying to figure out my table layout for the reception. I was looking at having a solid-colored table cloth but include a patterned table runner with it. My colors are brown/green/orange.  Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

I think if you do a neutral colored table cloth, a beige or off white, with a brown runner it would look very regal.  Deep shades of brown have a very royal feel to them and you can brighten it up with organge and green center pieces.  I've seen light table cloths with dark runners at parties before & it really adds something nice to the table.  You can also go to fabric stores to check out different shades of brown and different types of material.  The material you choose for your runners can also create a completely different look.

It depends on white kind of tables you are having. If you are having long rectangle tables (I mean long enough to fit about 20-30 people at), I would go with a light table clothe and a light brown or sage green runner. Accent with orange flowers or Orange and Green glass balls (very popular for late 17th Century).

If you are doing smaller tables, or round tables, I would go with a light table cloth, with a light beige/gold runner. Have a small candleabra in the center with flower buds in your colors around.

That's where I got my runners, they are beautiful! The only thing is they need to be ironed. I think they are having a sale right now, so the prices should be very reasonable.

Thanks! I've found some gorgeous brown/orange paisley linens, and I think I'm going to use them as runners over a creme or white table cloth.

Do you have a pic or a link of the runner. Sounds nice, I'd love to see it. Definitely agree on keeping the linen a soft neutral color if your doing a special runner.
