Dressing up a Drab reception site

I'm torn between two sites for the reception-
Site A is very nice, but you must use their caterer, etc, which makes it very expensive (and is limited on choices). It is also not as convienent of a location.
Site B is convienent and has open-catering policies (and is cheaper overall!), but the building is less than desirable.  Do you have any ideas on how to dress up a drab building? There isn't a ton of room to spare, but I'm struggling to choose site A because of cost and limited choices!

Thanks.

Re: Dressing up a Drab reception site

  • Can you post some pictures of Site B, so we can get an idea of what it looks like?

  • Do you have any pictures of the site? And any idea about colors/themes/etc?

  • Lighting can make a huge difference.  DIYuplights.com rents easy to use LED uplights for $19 each.  They arrive a few days defore the wedding and you can send them back using the prepaid shipping label they include.  We used them and it worked out great.  Trees with fairy lights are also nice if they work with your decor.  My daughter had a winter wedding so I used lots of fake Christmas trees with white lights.  Lower the regular lights.....
