No head table

we are opting against doing a head table. we are doing a stations event and not having assigned seating. The problem I have with this I am not sure what to do with the wedding party after the introductions?? Circle the dance floor, and we come in and have our first dance??

Re: No head table

  • We did a stations wedding and had a sweetheart table.  We did introductions followed by the first dance.  The WP and their dates sat at one of the tables, so they went over to their table after the introductions.
  • We were all introduced into the room and then we all took our seats.  Just let them go to their tables after the introduction, they don't need to form a circle around you when you dance.  That's just weird.

  • I probably won't do a head/sweetheart table or assigned seating either because I want the reception to be very relaxed.
I don't see why the wedding party couldn't just be introduced, then go off their own way, to wherever they plan to sit/dance/whatever.
  • We did a sweetheart table (And I can honestly say, it was one of the best decisions we made. It bought us tiny little intervals where we could just sit and be together, without being bothered, which just nice).

We did do assigned tables for the reception, and we had a sit-down meal. But once the BP introductions where over, they moved off to the side for our first dance, they were able to go straight to their seats (We didn't do a BP dance or anything) ... we actually didn't know they just stood there until afterwards, apparently nobody told them they could just go to their seats. But our first dance was really short (Under 3 minutes long), so I don't feel too awful about it.

Also, with the assigned table, I didn't make the BP sit together ... well, not really. 1/2 the BP was just my siblings, so they were all at one table together with my mom and step-dad, DH's sister was my other BM-she sat with DH's parents and her family, and then our other 2 guys were DH's best friends, so they were at our "friend" table ...essentially, we sat everybody where they would have been seated anyway if it wasn't our wedding. Everybody was very happy with this arrangement.
