Vintage wedding

We are planning a April wedding, and i want to have a vintage theme.  Any ideas on getting a vintage feel during the ceremony and reception.  Thanks

Re: Vintage wedding

  • What do you mean by vintage?  That word is pretty over used and rarely clarified.  A wedding with a 1870s vibe would look different from one with a 1920s vibe.  A 1790s theme would feel different from a 1980s theme.  They would all be "vintage".
  • I was thinking more of a Victorian era inspired theme.
  • There is a Retro and Vintage board in the "Wedding Theme Board" to the left. You may have some luck there and the ladies are very nice.

I used black & white toile as my main inspiration, toile is something that looks Victorian. Toile prints come in cream and other colors, ie red, blue, grey, pink.

Here are pics of the ringbearer pillow, pewcones in the chapel, and table top.

Baby's breath always adds a bit of old fashioned feeling to flowers IMO. I made the table runners and ring bearer pillow from floor length cotton curtains I found online by googling "black and white toile curtains".

The pewcones are from the David Tutera line at Michael's (or Joann's, not sure, LOL). I found black & white toile contact paper by googling, then cut and affixed decals from it onto the pew cones.

Floral prints and lace, to me, evoke a vintagey Victorian era feeling, and you can use any color, but Victorian colors tend to be muted a bit.

    Good luck.
  • congrats to couples who are marrying in the vintage season. According to the seasons, plan your wedding with all the arrangements. Select the theme that perfectly match to your wedding ceremony and it also attract the many more guest.
  • Ruffledblog.com is a great source for vintage inspiration.

We're doing a bit of a modern take on vintage, but some of our key vintage pieces are 3 blue mason jars and 2 old hardcovers as our centerpieces and a lace dress -- I'm getting the Karena Royale by Maggie Sottero.
