realy want to have an Ohio State University theme wedding/reception help!

okay this is going to sound nutty.  i am really wanting to have an ohio state football theme wedding.  my FH is at osu getting his doctorate and i have always loved ohio state.  plus while we were starting to date and grt to know each other we spent every saturdsy going out to watch osu football games.  i know its not the clalssiest idea for a wedding but its who we are.  any suggestions.  i am from southern ohii and he is from texas so we are gonna have a country flare to the wedding.  i plan on having an outdoor wedding sometime in late september or october.  any ideas?  ive found tons on pintrest but just havnt seen anything football that i like.  sorry for poor spelling and bad capitalization....typing on a tablet and it is not correcting.

I think you could make it football-ish without making it seem like a kids' birthday party...maybe tailgate style foods? A football/OSU cake? Ticket stub style escort cards?

Play the fight song when entering the reception.  Have buckeyes as your favor.  Use pictures of the campus and the two of you at the football games or landmarks at the school as table numbers.  Just don't go overboard with the theme or it might end up looking like a tailgate.

We have a cake topper that is football themed. I found it at thatsmytopper.com. Our wedding is somewhat Notre Dame themed so the cake topper fit in well.

You can have Brutus make an appearance, the alumni band will also do events and I think possibly you can have part of TDBITL appear - all for a fee, of course!

What about gray dresses with scarlet shoes for the girls .  Black tuxes, white shirts, red ties for the guys.

i like the stub ticket idea, and the tailgate type of food. to add to that, have a 'drink menu list' that has beer available in tin tubs and also a martini bar for those who want a different drink, because those are great for outdoor weddings and ithe beer tubs will give a country rustic type of feel i think would fit.

Agree with PP. Be subtle if you do it at all because I have seen Ohio State themes gone awry. Be VERY careful about your choices - because like someone said, it may end up looking like a kid's birthday party or a graduation party instead of a wedding. Also be aware that while Ohio State is very important to both of you (completely understand as I was born and raised in Cbus) not all of your guests will appreciate an Ohio State theme. Good luck!

Also  - not to rain on your parade, but if you two are such OSU fans, are you sure that having your wedding during prime football season is a good idea?

I'm doing something similar, I am also at OSU, so I am going with red,white,black with light touches of gray, and of course be sure to have Carmen played at some point. I would even talk to the alumni association they would probably have some photos of couples who have also done it.

I am an OSU alum and I am having Carmen, Ohio (it's correct name) played during the wedding prelude, before the mothers are seated...I am sure Hang On Sloopy and the fight song will make an apperance during the reception.

I love this idea!  We considered doing something like this too.  We're both huge buckeye fans!  Maybe you could order buckeye themed koozies.  I found these on the same website we ordered ours from.

It is truly amazing what you can find to fit a theme.  My daughter has a nickname of "The Hulk" because of her workout routines.  I actually found a garter that could be made with this theme.  She had two garters for the wedding.  One was more of a keepsake garter; the Hulk garter she used as the tossing garter.  She kept it a secret from her FI.  Needless to say, the look on his face when he saw what he removed from her leg was priceless!
