Rustic yet elegant reception decor ideas

Hi!  I'm planning my reception in a barn.  It's completely restored and very modern, so I would like to stick to a rustic yet elegant theme for the entire wedding.  I'll let you know some of my decor ideas so far, and I hope you can add on with more ideas!!!  I'm thinking about using curly willow or ting ting in vases for centerpieces - I'd also like to incorporate short centerpieces but I haven't thought of anything yet.  I'd like to do some type of napkin ring within my theme, but haven't come up with anything yet either - ideally it would be DIY & cheap so i don't have to worry about collecting them at the end of the night.  So, I guess I do not have that many ideas, haha.  So I'm hoping to get some from you guys!  I'm open to all DIY things, plus whatever else!    TIA!

I am doing the exact same thing as you. I just booked our venue in a rust, but finished barn.

What colors are you using?

My theme is also rustic & I am doing alot of DIY also, I seen at a craft fair last week some logs cut in half with small votive candles glued onto the tops and some fall leaves to decorate around the votive candle holders, since your dates in spring, I would recommend spring flowers, (we are using gerbera daisies) We are having a log cake stand for our centerpiece with LOTS of homemade candy to place on it.

I think a good napkin holder that can be DIY is to buy from michaels or anywhere some twine and just wrap it around the napkins a few times.  maybe put a charm on it?  I am doing a rustic wedding as well and we are doing lots of lanterns and mason jars with candles in them.  we are also doing mason jars for our cocktails and beers.  lots of good ideas out there--I saw one rustic wedding with haybale seating areas (not for dining, but more for cocktail hour) that they covered in quilts/blankets in their wedding colors, which we are also doing.  Good luck!

Katherine - we def should stay in touch since we are doing the same theme!  I haven't decided for sure on my colors yet... I know I want ivory & mocha accents, but for my main color I am between coral, salmon, or melon.  What about you?

Katherine and Kylie .. I'd like to stay in touch with you also, I was hoping to have a barn wedding but haven't found one that lived up to my dream barn yet .. But I do have other ideas on decorating. My colors are fushia and teal, not really rustic but I just love the colors!

Hi there-
I am actually getting married in a barn that was built in the
1800's. It is very rustic but oh so elegant. I am using mason jars with wild flowers in them for my center pieces. To glam them up a little, I put a large (approximately 11/2 in) ribbon around the middle of it then put a thinner ribbon on top of that one. My colors are pink for my bridemaids dresses and my dress is a very faint ivory. So I am using those colors in my center pieces.

Just an idea.
