Reception Favors Idea Part Deux

I love to cook and want to give away sherry and marsala cooking wines (also some olive oils for some, ie my alcoholic cousin). They're Napa Valley Naturals (I'm originally from northern California). When they're on sale at Sprouts they're about $3.50 each. I'm only having 35 adult guests so that's doable. Since they last for a couple years I figured that in the months leading up to my wedding I would check Sprouts each week I shop there.

I also wanted to include the escort card on each bottle, along with my favorite recipe with each kind of wine/oil. Or maybe have my FI choose his favorite recipe that I cook. Is that going to be appealing to guests? They're beautiful looking little bottles and it's personalized. I'm also hoping that people learn some new cooking techniques or experiment with something they haven't done before. I feel like that could be fun? Or am I just projecting my own interests?

Re: Reception Favors Idea Part Deux

  • Personally, I would like it -- UNLESS I had to fly in for your wedding.  Liquids are really hard to pack for air travel.  It might be too big to take in a carry-on, and hard to protect adequately to be put in a checked bag (and depending on the size of the bottle, could put people over their weight limit).

If you have a lot of people travling by air, I would suggest a favor that can be consumed before they travel home, like a cookie, candy, cupcake, etc.
