Family Style Dinning Menu Ideas

My fiance and I have decided on family style dinning for our June wedding.  We have never attended a reception served this way and are stuggling with making a decision on the menu.  Any suggestions on what has worked well would be wonderful.

My cousin had her wedding dinner served family style.  She had two meat choices, macaroni and cheese, a platter of  mixed grilled vegetables and a basket of rolls.   It was awesome, but there was a LOT of food left over (I think the caterer over-estimated the ammount of food people would eat....the bowl of macaroni probably had enough to serve 12-15 people for each table of 8).

We're having a family style reception in June too!!  

Has the venue given you a list of possibilities for menu options?  If not, if it helps, we're having salad, rolls, crab-stuffed flounder, chicken cordon bleu, eggplant parm, roasted red potatoes, 2 vegetable choices, and breaded mushrooms.

ask for menu options.  they should give you options for what you can pick. We looked at family style dinner too.  We had selections to choose from. 
1-salad
1-soup
2-meats
2-veggies
2-starch
1-dessert

then they had extras we could choose from too.  Chicken and beef are the norm but you can do whatever works for you.  I was at a wedding that did chicken and pork.  You know your family/friends and what will work go with it.  yes you will have lots of food family style gives lots and lots of food.  good luck.

Our venue gave us menu options.
1 soup
1 salad
3 entrées (+ mostaccioli)
1 potato
1 vegetable
1 dessert (+ cake)

It's kind of a mix between a plated and buffet dinner. Each table is given family sized dishes of each item from which they can serve themselves.

My finacee and I are also planning a family style dinner but haven't priced it out yet. Does anyone have an opinion regarding a price comparison?
