Roasting Marshmallows

I have many kids in my family and want my wedding to be fun, but elegant.  I see many vintage instagram style pictures with paper lanters and woodsy and love the idea.

I am looking for a vendor that has a open campground style area like where the kids use to gather for lunches and it had no walls or doors.  Also possibly thinking cabins for the guests that stay - but that i know from experience is not comfortable.  So I guess woodsy and able to have a bon fire is what i would like..

any vendors in New england area ?  I live south of boston, but open to any ideas!

Thanks everyone!!

You might want to post this on your local board.
  • PS.  I'm not sure how you can combine roasting marshmallows and having a bonfire with elegant, but I'd be interested to see how you can pull that off.
  • Peoples' clothes will reek from the bonfire smell.  We have a fire pit in the back yard and this is always an issue.  You don't want kids around a fire roasting marshmallows without a LOT of adult supervision and if I was an adult at your wedding my kid wouldn't be roasting marshmallows because I don't want his or my good clothes to reek!  Sorry that sounds so harsh, but I'm wondering if you really don't want to rethink this.

I agree with the other posters about posting on your local board and the issues with combining a bonfire and elegant attire.  Perhaps you could have a bonfire the night before the wedding.  Also, make sure you have a rain plan.

Without any idea about your budget or number of guests, here are 2 venues I looked at in midcoast Maine that might have the feel you're looking for but be a little more on the elegant side:
If you have questions about Maine venues, come over to the Maine board.  You could also look at public parks and summer camps.
  • Please rethink this. It is a disaster waiting to happen.

  • i appreciate everyones input.. im obv new to this and throwing a bunch of ideas together.  As for elegant, maybe i used the wrong word.  I want people to be comfortable - not black tie affair, but not jeans obviously.  but the environment will be intimate.    I will post on a local board - new to this site also.  Thanks everyone!
  • i saw something on pinterest with small terracotta pots lined with foil and then a couple peices of charcoal in them for table top fires for roasting marshmellows, i thought it was adorable and plan on using the idea for a summertime party
