Cocktail/station style

Our wedding is small, only 42 people we were thinking of doing a station style reception. It wouldn't be any less food, it would have a carving station, pasta station, and others. We were just concerned how it would work with such a small amount of people? Has anyone ever been to this type of wedding that can offer any advice or things to watch out for?
