Does crisp photography exist?

Since the trend right now seems to be vintage, muted colors that everyone under the sun is taking these days, does crisp vibrant photography exist at all? For example, I've browsed various photographer blogs and every once in awhile, you come across a small handful of crisp pictures but the majority seem to be the vintage blurred/discolored photography, even from the same photographer in the same wedding set.

  • Try looking for someone that also does sports photography. They tend to see lighting differently.

  • Are you looking at photojournalists' websites? Try wpja.com.

  • Yes I have browsed every local photojournalist at that particular website, as well ones that say they travel and they tend to be mainly blurred and/or washed out colors. There are a few crisp pictures but are few and far between.
  • The photographers that you have found that have pictures that are "crisp" can probably work with you to get what you want for your wedding day. Just set up an appointment and ask them if they will do what you want.
  • Have you asked on your local?  They may be able to point you to some good photographers in the style you're looking for.  Maybe post a couple links of photos you like so they have an idea of what you want.
  • I would imagine that's mostly an effect that the photographer is doing.  It doesn't mean they can't do anything else.  Just talk to them and be prepared to show examples of the type of pictures you want.

  • I saw the wedding pictures of a friend of a friend on Facebook, and they were all that muted, slightly blurry vintage look.  It was cool at first, but looking through a full album of them gave me a headache.  I fully intend to tell our photographer that I like the effect, but only used sparingly.

Have you checked out the photographer listings on offbeatbride.com?  I know that most of the photographers that she's featured will travel, and I've seen several that do wonderfully vibrant shots.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • The photographer I am using has exactly what you are looking for, or so I believe and she will do destination weddings (you are in CA) for a very reasonable price. Make sure to check her blog, she has TONS of pictures!

Ditto this.  I'm not a photographer, but I do know that they can easily change the effects of their photos using lenses and whatever techniques they know.
