Workout DVD's?

O.k. you guys have got to help me get going here! Really I need some motivation bad. I've been hearing about The Shred but don't know if you watch it on t.v. or if you bought it as dvds. I started doing P90X, and good God it almost killed me after 2 days. I've always been small and in shape, but the past year I've let it all go because my job changed and life has been crazy. I put 30 lbs on my 5'2 frame and I've got to get it off before this wedding. Any energy or jump start suggestions? Thanks girls!

Re: Workout DVD's?

  • The Shred is a dvd, I got it but *sadly* have been too lazy to start it. I just value my mornings too much to get up early! Argh! Well tomorrow I am going to give it a go and try to do it in the morning, I prefer doing stuff like that in the a.m. because it keeps me focused all day. I know there are some other ladies on here who have it and use it, so hopefully they will chime in :)
  • Can't stop raving about the shred. I have the DVD and love it! Next on my list is Barry's BootCamp - I will probably order it after we get back from the wedding. I WANT to order it now but FI is making me wait because we keep spending money on WR stuff... lol...
  • I also have the 30 day shred. I love it! It will seriously kick your butt into shape. I haven't been brave enough to try level 3 yet, but I'll get there.
  • I got the Shred a few months ago, and it really does give you a good workout... it's a little boring though, prob the reason I haven't been able to stick with it consistently, but it will def give you results. I also love Tae-bo with Billy Banks, his workouts are a little faster paced.  I have the older ones though, I haven't tried his boot camp.  I got the Celebrity fitness one and could barely hang with it it was so fast.  If you're out of shape, get the ones that have beginner, advance, etc so you can move up the fitness chain without killing yourself with your first workout!  Sadly, I have been a bum and am only working out sporadically, maybe a few times a week.  I really need to get back in the habit, I just value my mornings so much too!!!  And it's hard to workout after you've been at work for 8-9hr...
  • So I've heard from numerous girls on TK about The Shred; can anyone shine some light on what it is exactly? Is it a full body workout, pilates-ish? I've been going to the gym every day w/ FI, but I might need to get a dvd like that if I end up not being able to afford a yoga/pilates studio once we move to NY. Do you buy the shred levels individually?
  • I also do the shred, but not daily, more like 4 days a week. It is a mix of cardio, strength and abs. She does three minures of cardio, two mintues of strength and 1 minute of abs. There are three circuits of the above in each level and there are three levels. I have found it is great for toning and losing inches but not fat. I need more cardio to actually lose fat (weight). HTH.

  • I'm a shredder too.  Natalie/JSBB2010 - it's on DVD  called the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels (Biggest Loser trainer).  It has 3 different levels already on it.  So you start with level 1 and as you progress over days or weeks you move to level 2, then 3.  It's a circuit workout that requires weights and floor space.  You do x minutes of cardio, x minutes of strength and x minutes of abs and repeat.  It's definitely a butt kicker and she is a little boring.  However if you have a short attention span and you really want results, it's a good choice.  Amazon sells it for like $20 I think.  GL girls.
