Can I get a new gown before Tuesday? Talk me out of it!!!

I picked-up my gown last night, and yes it is a beautiful gown. But last night I just didn't feel like it was "The One" anymore. I don't know. I want to go and try on more dresses but we leave for my wedding TUESDAY! I don't know what to do. My dress fits and FI said he will love it, he wants to see in me in it and says I'm beautiful no matter what I wear. My Mom doesn't know and would kill me b/c she spent $1,000 on the dress! I am so torn, I came home crying to FI last night and just went to bed. If I were to go to David's Bridal and look for something, what's the likely-hood I could find something under $300 and that fits perfect that I could walk out of the store with? Am I being silly, please put me in my place if need be.Thanks for reading.

  • I absolutely love your dress, and think you are going to be a stunning bride in it!!!!  I def DO NOT think you should go look for another one.  David's is having their $99 sale, but when I was there, I wasnt' impressed with any of those dresses, they pale in comparison to yours!!!  You are going to be beautiful!
  • Noooooooo!!! I have dress envy with your dress...I absolutely love it and I've been dying to see your pictures all made up pretty with your dress on.But...if it will really make you happy, go try some. I don't think you will find something as beautiful in so short notice, but it can't hurt to try. At least you will know you tried.
  • First let me say that I too had been thinking about getting a new dress.  *BUT* if I did get a new one, IT WOULD BE YOURS!I've looked at your dress over and over and over...I absolutely love it!  We're so close to leaving that maybe this is "supposed" to happen...we want it to be perfect and second-guessing ourselves will keep us up at night (ALL NIGHT!).My vote:  keep your dress!  It truly is about my favorite dress that I have seen!  And you're going to look like a goddess in it!
  • DO NOT GET A NEW DRESS!!!  Take it from someone who went and bought another dress and ended up getting married in the original dress and sold the second dress for 25% of what I paid for it.  It was a huge waste of money.  Every bride has doubts.  Stick with your initial insticts and get married in your gorgeous dress!
  • I think it is just something we all go through so close to the wedding, second guessing everything.  I mean both of us have went and bought new bridesmaid dresses!  I just did it a week ago.  But your dress is beautiful and you are going to look absolutely stunning in it!  Don't worry, its just jitters!  As for Davids Bridal, I went there and tried on about everything they had and the stuff that I actually did were pretty pricy for DB.  And if you think that your dress might not be the one, I doubt that a cheap one from DB would be either.  I hope that after reading all of the pp's you feel better.

  • No, no no! Wear this dress! But I do think if you go try on dresses you'll find you love your dress again. It's so gorgeous!
  • I agree with everyone else and mostly Normailed! But I think we all do go through this, I so badly wanted to try on different dresses, and I almost like the TTD dress that I bought more, but I'm sticking to my guns. I don't think you'd be able to find a suitable dress at DB, but maybe a sample sale at a bridal salon, might be better. I think the biggest issue would be getting alterations or making sure it fit properly. Have you thought about looking for a pre-owned dress on oncewed.com or preownedweddingdress.com? You could probably get a gorgeous dress for half the price... but again your dress is already beautiful and perfect... don't second guess yourself!
  • Stop driving yourself nuts. Your dress is beautiful, you are leaving Tuesday (like me), pack it up and get going and marry that man! I am sure you could find something else you like more/better/differently, but in another two weeks, none of that will matter, trust me! You are going to look beautiful! (and you are not marrying the dress....lol).
  • By the way, we were " " this close to booking Dreams PC for our honeymoon (and would have been there from the 27th on and seen you) but opted last minute to change to a cruise. I want to hear all about the resort, as we are still thinking of going, maybe for our anniversary next year.
  • I dont think you are being silly, just really nervous. I still have exactly one year today, before my wedding, and I have had my dress for a couple months. I get it out of the garment bag at least once a week, and try it on, and then I cry because I feel like cinderella at the ball. I went to many different places, and tried on many different dresses, and this dress is the only one that made me feel like a princess. When I put it on, it is like it knows that it is the dress that I will walk down the aisle to my Prince Charming in. Unfortunately, it was really expensive at the bridal shop. :( So, my sister went on ebay and found it there, and in my size (!!) for way less than the bridal salon was charging. And to top it off, brand new, still with tags. I realize, that I have mine super early, and everyone is worried that I will gain or lose a lot of weight, but I will not have it altered, until about 4 weeks prior to the wedding. Point is honey, stick with your initial dress. When you tried it on at the bridal store, most likely you felt the same way about your dress, and that you looked and felt like a princess in it. You wouldnt have bought it, if you didnt fall in love with it. Trust your gut, and I am sure you will look beautiful. Congratulations!!
