weird question about dress fittings

I am finally going to go out and look at dresses for the first time tonight! I can't say that I am really excited, lol. But I know that I have to start and hopefully once I try the first one on I'll start feeling the excitement more. I am more nervous than anything becuz this bridal shop has had tons of bad reviews/horror stories posted online. But it's the only shop around me that has the dress I fell in love with online actually in their store. Anyways, my question is...what do I wear underneath to go try dresses on? I don't really own any body suits or whatever, just regular bra's and undies. Is that ok to wear? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just have no idea and am a natural worrywart/nervous wreck...lol

Re: weird question about dress fittings

  • I wore regular bra and panties.  However, I wish I had worn my suck me in underwear and  a Strapless bra.  I did end up just taking my bra off at one point because it was easier to get an idea.
  • Just nice undies that cover you, lol.  I wore no bra the whole time because I know I won't wear one that day.

  • Just wear a nice pair of undies (I would avoid a thong unless you want to show your butt cheeks to whoever's helping you get dressed) and a strapless bra if you have one. Otherwise just wear a regular. All of the shops I went to had bustiers for you to wear while trying dresses on.Have fun! Make sure you drink water and have some food in your stomach before you go.
  • Wear granny panties.  I didn't on my first trip out and felt a little "exposed".  Also very important, wear a low back strapless bra or bustier.  If you don't have one, then at least a regular strapless.  Have a great time!
  • Phew, I feel a lot better. I thought I'd have to go out and buy something special to wear underneath. Thanks girls, you are the best!!
  • I agree with pps - I hate to wear strapless bras, but know that I needed to have something on when I tried on the dresses - so I made my Mom carry it in her purse (I carry a very small purse!).  Two of the three places offered bustiers, so I would just bring something just in case.   And definitely full coverage undies.  I tried on some dresses where you could *see*  my undies, but you are looking more to the fit, feel, etc. than whether or not you have panty lines.
