I want to change my wedding location...

After looking at all the talk shows that have the crew from Couples Retreat I want to get married in Bora Bora. I looked it up and the weddings are not legal binding. My boyfriend wants to get married here and have a symbolic wedding there. I have been on the computer all day looking up resorts in Bora Bora. OMG!!!! So beautiful. Now I am confused but I think I still want to stick with my St. Lucia wedding.

Re: I want to change my wedding location...

  • It is absolutely gorgeous there.  Some friends and I considered a trip to Fiji (same general part of the planet) and what discouraged us was 1) the travel time - it takes an ungodly amount of time to get there, even from the west coast, and 2) the cost of flights - they're suuuuuper expensive, because it's pretty remote.  I would think unless you and your guests are really well off it would be hard to do a DW there. But a vow renewal in 5 years?  That might be a plan.  :)
  • I am sorry I forgot to mention it is going to just be the two of us, no guest. I know about that flight. We went to Hawaii in April and from Ohio it was an 8 hr flight. It wasn't that bad.
  • It's waaaay further than Hawaii.  Like, it takes 12 hours just from the west coast of flying alone (Hawaii is only 6), not including layovers. But, if it's just the two of you, then that might work just fine.  And I agree, it is gorgeous.
  • Bora Bora is beautiful.  I went there 4 years ago and from NYC its 14 hours (and most people stay on to go to Australia for ANOTHER 12 hours - yeesh!).  And if you don't stop to stay in Tahiti, you have to get on another plane from Tahiti to Bora Bora (at least that was what we had to do).Its truly paradise.  The people there are so friendly and nice and the island is very small and quiet and truly just a restful and beautiful place to be.  However, I've never been to St. Lucia, so I can't compare. If you both are up for the flight and don't have guests coming with you, I'd say go for it.  But I will warn you EVERYTHING is expensive there - they import pretty much everything.  Let me know if you have any questions, I've got a few suggestions if you want to know more! Kat
  • Thanks for the input. I am highly thinking about this.
  • Can I come in your suitcase?  That was my dream wedding location.
