Travel arrangements - help?

This is my first post, and I am definitely a wedding planning novice, so I'm hoping someone can give me some advice :)My fiance and I are getting married in Maui next summer. I am in the very early stages of trying to coordinate group travel for about 50 guests. Does anyone know of any resources/tips for finding good group travel discounts? The challenge is that we have a lot of family traveling in from different areas. I've asked a travel agent and she keeps coming back to me with these pricey packages - I don't want my guests to spend too much! Thanks for any help :)

  • I too am a novice planner. So I have no tips or tricks. I just wanted to say HEY!!! Welcome to the best board around and some of the most helpful girls in the wedding world :) GL!

  • I would call your TA back and tell her "I need a package for my guests that cost no more than $xxx per person. What can you do for me?" If that means staying a day or 2 less, so be it. TA's work on comission so of course she's going to show you the more expensive options first. And if she can't work within your budget, find a TA that will. A lot of girls here use Beach Bum Vacations.
  • Check out Destinationweddings.com.  It sounds like a great deal, but I just put up a post myself to see if anyone has worked them.
  • I am a Jamaica bride, Sandals Negril..sorry I wish I had advice for Hawaii, but I would recommend my TA's company. VIP Vacations. They are wonderful and I know that many of the TA's there specialize in different destinations. I am using Jennifer for my wedding and can't rave about her enough! www.travelbyvip.com
  • Thanks so much for all the suggestions, ladies! I will definitely check these out. Also, for any other DW brides, I found out that Pleasant Holidays has a Pleasant Weddings group that helps your guests book their own air/land/accommodations for your wedding at prices that are often lower than the group discount prices.
