Where is your wedding???

I got married almost a year ago and the knot was extremely helpful.  My brother and his fiance are now planning their destination wedding and due to the fact that they just moved and started new jobs they asked me to do some research for them.  They want a destination wedding in January 2010 and they are nto sure where they want to get married.  I need some help with a jumping off place--tell me where you are getting married so I can begin the research for them.  Thanks!!!

Re: Where is your wedding???

• Sandals Grande Ocho Rios Jamaica man! I love it there. Been 3 times before, what better place than somewhere we love. Good luck and hth.
• That doesn't give them much time but it can be done.  I'm getting married at the Grand Palladium Jamaica.  Good questions to start:  Do they want a beach, ski lodge, Vegas, etc?  Would they like to stay in the US (or Canada, sorry not sure where you are)?  How many guests are they expecting?  Children or just adults?  What's the budget for the wedding and travel?  Assuming they are inviting guests, they need to figure all this out ASAP.  Not a lot of time for people to plan for the trip.  Most DW brides give guests a year + notice.GL, let us know what we can do to help!
• Hi :) You're so sweet to do some research for them. We are getting married in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (as well as a few other girls here) at the NH Krystal Vallarta resort. And also in January 2010 like your bro/future SIL! We originally were looking at Mayan Riviera in Mexico (which is also a very popular DW area) but found PV was more budget friendly for our guests. Good luck!
• We're getting married on Maui. My cousin got married on relatively short notice in Hawaii a couple years back - it's totally doable. You can do a beach wedding, followed by a dinner reception at one of the local nice restaurants, and the wedding coordinators and photogs there are really professional. The bride/groom and guests would likely want to stay in some of the many condos that can be rented on the island - check out vrbo.com for rentals and this site for reviews - http://www.wizardpub.com/maui/mauaerials.html Hawaii can be more expensive than Mexico, but it's a U.S. state, so it's really easy to get legally married there. Plus, no passports are needed to travel there - a huge plus!
• We are taking a Mediterranean Cruise and getting married ashore in the French Riviera. You can also look at the DW Brides Bio and there is a list of kotties with the locations they are getting married at.http://dwbridesbio.com/location.php
• Hello!  We are getting married at Beaches Sandy Bay in Negril Jamaica.  I choose Beaches because its an all inclusive and because it is kid friendly.  Those were two very important points for us.  I choose this particular resort because it is smaller and not as crazy as the other Beaches in Negril, plus the prices were great.

• We're doing an outdoor wedding in Savannah, Ga. I also recommend checking out the DW brides bio link - lots of great suggestions there.
• We were torn between Mexico, Puerto Rico or Florida because we wanted a beach wedding.  We chose the Riviera Maya in Mexico because (to be very honest), its where we got the best deal for our money from all of the above areas.  We also chose our particular resort because they do the wedding reception dinner on the beach (something I was dying to do). But chosing Mexico came at a cost to me because my brother in law refuses to let my nieces go to Mexico because he believes it is too dangerous for them to be there.  So unfortunately for me, I was forced to make the overall decision.  I would check with them to see what they view as important to them (location, certain attendees, etc) as you are researching.
• We're getting married at the Wyndham Sugar Bay in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. We chose our resort because it was affordable, no passports required, and I loved the gorgeous view for the ceremony site located on the rooftop terrace. Depending on the size of the wedding, Jan might be hard to put together that quickly. We gave our guests 14months to save and plan, and even that wasn't enough time for some ppl to afford it. Also Jan is high season for most tropical destinations in the Caribbean so keep that in mind too if you are trying to keep costs low for guests. HTH and GL
• We wanted to stay in the states so we're doing Key West, FL.
• Thank you everyone, I appreciate all the help!
• So nice of you to help them plan.  We're getting married in Maui.  Hawaii can be more expensive; however, due to the economy the travel industry is really hurting. We got an unbelievable deal!!  We're staying in Maui for 7nights, then off to Oahu for 4 nights.  We got an unbelievable deal - air/hotel/car w/room upgrades and breakfast daily for well under $5k. Good luck!!
• We're getting married at The Royal in Playa del Carmen. I think she will have plenty of time! I choose Mexico because I wanted it to be affordable for our guests. Best of luck!
