Trying to decide on a caribbean destination...

Hello.... Looking for a destination in the caribbean for wedding. Not looking to do a beach ceremony.....would love to do it on a bluff overlooking the water. It's turning out to be a harder search than I had anticipated. So far, I've only found a couple of places (one in St Johns and one in Cayman) California seems to have exactly what I'm looking for, but the Caribbean or possibly even Central America/Mexico are more appealing to us. Does anyone know of any other locations? Thanks!!!

Re: Trying to decide on a caribbean destination...

• Pic of our wedding location in my very sad excuse of bio.  It's at The Grand Palladium Jamaica.
• I'm a non-beach DW bride. I got married in June at the One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos, Mexico on a cliff overlooking the Sea of Cortez. I didn't want to get married on the beach either since I'm a total shoe wh0re and I refused to get married barefoot. There is a link to pictures in my bio if you're interested... Geographically, Cabo is pretty mountainous and I found quite a few venues that offered cliff or bluff-side ceremony locations overlooking the water. For the Caribbean, I'd check out resorts in Nevis. I know that the Four Seasons there lets you get married on the golf course which overlooks the water. There are some gorgeous bluffs in Maui-- but that is a flight and a half. Good luck!

I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.

• Wow, that looks really gorgeous. Thanks. This may sound odd, but I've actually sort of avoided looking into Jamaica because I went there already with an ex. haha. It's just there are so many other islands and so far I've only been to Jamaica, Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico and we're heading to Antigua in 6 wks. So, it would be nice to go to a new island..... Hawaii is actually our ideal location, but living on the east coast, it's way too much travel time/expense to ask of our family and friends, especially since a lot of my family would be coming from Ireland.
• St. Thomas has a lot of bluffs I believe.I also refuse to get married barefoot.  I just wouldn't feel "dressed".
• The Marriot in St.Thomas has a lovely gazebo on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Samantha7806 got married there a few months ago, and there's another knottie on here getting married there too (sorry can't think of who it is off the top of my head). Ginaherman is getting married in St.Thomas at the Wyndham SugarBay (I think) and I believe she's not having a beach ceremony.HTH!
• I live in St. Thomas and yes, we have several places. Devil's Triangle at Mahogany Run is nice, there is Magens Point, St. Peters Great house, Paradise Point, Drakes Seat, Hull Point....I could go on and on. Check out this website, and of the locations listed, they do have more options if you call them. http://www.islandweddingservices.com/
• El Conquistador in Puerto Rico is on a cliff overlooking the ocean and they host ceremonies in the gardens. http://www.elconresort.com/Tensing Pen in Jamaica is beautiful and it's also on cliffs overlooking the water. Ihave some serious wedding envy for the brides that have gotten married here. http://www.tensingpen.com/Biras Creek in Tortola is amazing and has a terrace for weddings. http://www.biras.comJade Mountain in St. Lucia it's also on a cliff overlooking the ocean and I believe they have wedding at the terraces too. http://www.jademountainstlucia.com/There are also a few others in St. Lucia that I can't think of the names right now that are not necesarily on the beach.
• PP are so right about St. Thomas. I've been there  before with an ex hahaah. And Magen's Bay/Point is wonderful! At one point it was rated the 2cd most beautiful beach in the world! It's very mountainous there too.
• Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. It's a big help! Dew3162...The Devil's triangle at mahogany run looks beautiful but the website didn't say anything about hosting weddings. I know you said you live in St Thomas, so I was wondering if you know for sure that they do hold weddings there. Thanks!
• I thought I had saved the emails from them but I guess not. We were actually thinking about getting married there and I got in contact with them by going to their website: http://www.mahoganyrungolf.com/ then click on contact us then instead of filling out the form there, I clicked on the little link under other forms of contact and sent and email to that address about being interested in getting married at Devil's Triangle and such. One of the reasons we didn't go with them was that you can only have 10 people, including the bride, groom and officiant. If you need anything else. let me know :)
• Thanks again! Yeah that definitely wouldn't work for us with a 10 person max.
