Re: Hawaiian Wedding Help!

• Check out the Hawaii wedding board. There's girls on there who've gotten married (or are getting married) on the different islands. Here's a link - http://talk.theknot.com/boards/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=73 Then you can go to the list of Hawaii brides and check out bios (well, the ones that are still up! - go for the more recent ones), to see how brides who got married or are getting married on different islands did it. • Hi there!! I'm getting married on Oahu on Nov. 5th. Our wedding has been very low cost b/c we're paying for everything ourselves. We're not having a traditional reception after. We're having dinner at my family's rental house which is 30 yards from the ceremony site. Things that have helped us save money are going outside of Waikiki (we're staying and having the wedding in Kailua instead), we're renting a house there for about $130 a night (much cheaper than a hotel), and we're using www.alohafromhawaiiweddings.com to coordinate the ceremony. Like pp said, make sure you hop over to the Hawaii board. Those ladies have been fabulous about answering questions
• Marry on Oahu if you're looking to cut the most cost. It's one of the most affordable islands to vacation on...theres a ton more resources (bakeries...etc) than on other islands and you have lots of options for all-inclusive packages. Most hotels offer AI packages for weddings and then if you go to google and do some searching some planning companies have some attractive packages also. When I worked at the Waikiki Beach Marriott the photographer we used for our AI packages working for THOUSANDS of dollars for his normal rate....he just booked his open days with our calendar for extra cash. And he was incredibly talented. As far as cake...Mary Katherines on King Street is tasty and very affordable. We used here for our luau cakes for my cousins birthday. :)
