newly engaged - advice about the dominican republic

Hi everyone! I recently got engaged and my fiance and I are planning an August wedding. I am looking for advice on the Domican Republic, paticularly Puerto Plata. Has anyone heard anything good/bad about any of the hotels? Also is anyone getting married in Mexico? Do you know how getting a blood test would work? Sorry I am asking so many question, I want to make sure that I pick the right place.

Welcome to the forum.  I'm getting married in Mexico and I believe the 2nd day we're there, the resort doctor comes to our room and draws some blood.  My Fi is suuuuper bad with needles, so it should be a good time

Welcome!  I am getting married in the DR but not familiar with that resort.  We are going through WEDO for the paperwork and then our resort will handle all else when we get there.  HTH!

Welcome to the board!  I am getting married in Mexico and we are just doing our symbolic ceremony there because we didn't want to do the blood test portion of it. Happy Planning

We're getting married in the DR in PuntaCana.  We were initially going to MX, but I didn't want to get the bloodwork done there.  Then we just decided to do a symbolic ceremony in DR anyways to avoid the headache (there are still time requirements to be in the country and you still have to get your marriage certificate certified at the consulate before you leave in order for your marriage to be legal).  Good luck and happy planning!!!
