Today has been a whirlwind of phone calls and emails. Thank goodness FI stepped up and helped me out. Here's what we have...the officiant says he has to do the ring exchange and the pronouncement but is willing to use our text as long it isn't overly religious.
Matt's parents are fine with the Jewish ceremony. We had a big talk because this was our ceremony for Chicago too. They just want a feeling of G-d being involved. My rabbi is willing to give us a blessing before we leave and then do the ketubah (marriage contract) when we get home. That's what will legalize the marriage spiritually. Matt's family priest (he's a 2 times a year Catholic) has agreed to give us a blessing as well. It's huge because he wanted absolutly nothing to do with our marriage last time we spoke with him.
The text is super long because there's a lot in English and Hebrew. It's transliterated so it's semi readable lol
I haven't shown it to anyone other than Matt and the rabbi yet so I'd love if you have time to read it and give feeback. It will seem a little choppy but that's pretty normal.
