Need help with location

Trying to plan a small wedding (~20) for 2012 and need some serious suggestions for locales.  So far I have it knocked down to three areas:  Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas.  Should I do an all-inclusive for my guests or not conern myself with their budgets and choose a great location even though it may be pricey?  Please help, ANY suggestions in the above areas are appreciated :)  You can also e-mail me at clacny@yahoo.com as well.  Thanks everyone in advance.

Re: Need help with location

  • I chose St. Thomas and we are expecting 25-30 people.  We chose the Wyndham Sugar Bay resort and spa, and it is an all inclusive.  I let my family choose where they wanted to stay, and they chose to rent a villa at the frenchman's morning star to save money and share the villa with my other family.

I am so excited and only here great things about the Virgin Islands.

  • I am also a Wyndham Sugar Bay - St Thomas bride :) I have never been to the US Virgin Islands but have heard wonderful things & can't wait to get married there! We opted for going the all inclusive route, we wanted to make it easier/cheaper on guests and ourselves but that's really a personal preference.  Good luck!

  • Since u said puerto rico ill jump in. Laughing

ok i love love love puerto rico and so were getting married there. thing is, i started looking for all-inclusive originally and there is not 1 resort on that is on that island that is all-inclusive. ultimately we chose the caribe hilton in san juan.

if i wasnt getting married in Puerto Rico, it would definitly be the sugar bay resort as said by pp.  but its a lot to look into and its mostly about personal preference. you always wanna be concious of your guests budget but ultimately whatever you and your FI want.

    Good luck doll!
  • Our wedding is in PuntaCana, Dominican Republic.  We will have 28 guests with us, and it's all-inclusive.  We were looking for something that would be a decent price that still had beautiful beaches (and the all-inclusive part was a must).  We are getting married there a week from today, so I can pass on more information about it in a little bit.

    Good luck with your planning!
  • Thanks all for the info, I noticed Wyndham was the only all inclusive the virgin islands had to offer and I LOVE the virgin islands (been there about 6x lol) but the pricing online I thought may be a little too much for my maid of honor and her family... I have also glanced at Caneel Bay in St. John but it's very pricey and they only have a european meal plan :(  Please send me a message and let me know how your weddings go in PR and at the Wyndham with any extra tidbits of info.
  • One hotel I suggest you check out is Dreams La Romana. It’s an all-inclusive hotel located on the southeast coast of the DR. The beach is beautiful and the service is outstanding. I think this would be an amazing place for a wedding! There are tons of activities for you and your guests to enjoy including snorkeling, an ocean trampoline and even a Euro bungee.  If you’re looking for a little down time there’s also an amazing spa and gorgeous relaxing pools to lounge by. Also at night, the resort puts on some great entertainment including shows, theme nights and movies on the beach. I really think you and your guests would adore this resort. Congratulations and good luck picking a destination!
