***Today's Nestie of the Day!!***

Hi all! Join me in welcoming Pamela (orchid2011) as our Nestie of the Day today! Her and her hubby Steven were married last June in Puntaa Cana and had a beautiful day. Read about their experience and her awesome advice for us DW brides! Congrats, Pamela!

(P.S. If you are an old married interested in being featured as Nestie of the Day, shoot me an email -- loramarie03 at gmail.com)

1. Give us your name and your hubby's name.

Pamela & Steven

2. What is your Knottie/Nestie name?

Orchid2011

3. When did you get married?

June 25, 2011

4. What location did you choose, and what final grade would you give it?

Dreams Resort & Spa Pun taa Cana, DR.  A++

5. What made that location better than all the others you looked at?

First of they offered all inclusive and the price for the guests were awesome, aside from being a gorgeous 5star resort it was in my native land. I was born in DR and still have family there that I wanted to have at my wedding.

6. What was your favorite part of your wedding?

Having my grandma, cousin and aunts that live there share our day with us. That made my day 110%. I also loved theceremony. I designed it myself with inspirations from other knotties and it still has our guests talking today. Who knew guests really pay attention to the long ceremonies lol.  The words were everything a marriage should be and it was in English and Spanish. If it wasn't too long I would frame it :)

7. Was there anything your guests LOVED, or are maybe STILL talking about?

Again our ceremony. It was one of a kind. And our day in general everything was perfect.

8. Everyone has one..... what was your wedding day snag?

My f'ing DJ. He sucked. and made international calls my our iPhones (we had our playlist there)

9. Did the people who initially opposed your DW ever change their minds and decide to attend?  Give us details.

Not really. Everyone who said they were going went. MIL in the other hand decided she was not going from thebeginning for whatever reason and then at the last minute she decided to go but ended up not going anyways because her passport didn't arrive on time and although we are in better terms now I say "that's what she gets!". She should ofagreed with our wedding from the get go and now it's too late and she has her regrets for not sharing this with her oldest son nor having any pictures with him. I felt bad more for DH, it was his big day and his mom wasn't there to support him.

10. Were there any "non-negotiable" things you HAD to have at your wedding?

Photographer,  videographer, and a TTD session. DH says I only married him to have the pictures and videos because i was so decided on those things.  lol. Being able to re-live our day by pictures and our video by going back to that same place and time is the best feeling ever. I would totally say go for it without any doubt.

p.s.

Thanks to our photographer and videographer we got featured on the Destination Inspiration Blog (<-- clicky). You see why it was non-negotiable? I couldn't have done it without them :)

11. Did you have any trouble flying with your dress?  How did you do it?

Not all all. My dress was put in the closet in first class from the moment we walked in the plane.

12. What was your favorite thing about the time you spent on the DW board?

The girls I've meet and have gotten to know, the ideas I found, and the advice I was given.  I'm so thankful to have found this board. These girls will become life long friends for sure!

13. What advice would you give to those who are just starting to plan their DW's?

Remember that this is yours and your FI's wedding, no one else. Do things the want you want to not whatever works for anyone else. You will hear rumors and such about how inconsiderate you are for having a DW but don't pay attention to them. This is your wedding and most like you are the one paying for it so why should you have to pay for someone else's  wedding.

14. What advice would you give to those whose big day is almost here?

Relax! Relax! Relax! Don't stress about the small things that won't get notice instead focus on what you've been waiting for, to marry the love of your life ;)

15. Be honest.... what did you forget at home?

Omg do I have to talk about it :(. I actually forgot a carry on bag with our door hangers for the day of the wedding, our flower girl basket, CDs with all our wedding music for reception, ceremony, and bonfire :( and some other small things. I followed my own advice and since most likely no one would notice it was missing because I was the only one who knew I'd left it (outside on thedriveway) I didn't stress it and made the best out of it.

16. Did it matter?

Not really. Thank you iPhones for music :)

17. Anything you wish you HADN'T done?

Nope. I would it it over the same exact way.

18. Do you regret doing a DW?

Absolutely not. I think it was the best decision I, we made :)

19. Did you have a separate honeymoon after you left your DW location?

No. We we were in DR for 2 weeks which was perfect since we stayed in Santo Domingo and La Romana for several days as well as Puntaa Cana for the wedding.

20. How did you keep your guests from wanting to spend all their time with you after the wedding?

That wasn't a problem at all. The resort was so big and offered so many activities that I hardly saw our guests. We would see them in the pool and at the nightly shows but that was all.

21. If you were going to do a "DW vow renewal" and money was no object, where would you go and what would it look like?

If money wasn't an issue I would def do either Italy or Paris and fly in my family from DR. But we love the beach and we loved our wedding so I think we would do the same thing over but we would stay longer.

22. So... how's married life treating you?  Was it difficult to adjust to being a wife?

I have to admit that i had my fair share of bad times the first 4-5  months to last me the test of my life. Is no joke when they say the first year of marriage is the hardest. But we are doing great now and we are happier than ever :) thank god! And as for adjusting as a wife, we've been together for almost 7 years and have lived together for 6 so that's aboutthe same.

23. Anything else you think would be helpful for the DW Knotties to know/hear?

Remember that this is your wedding not anyone else's. Do things the way you want to. Enjoy your time on the board and as a fiancé because it will fly by. Appreciate the help these girls offer, you'll be surprise at how much it will help you and how close you will all become.
