naysayers

After reading the nestie of the week and hearing her mention that she didn't really have any naysayers, it got me thinking about the beginning of my wedding planning process and just how much one of my immediate family members completely hated the idea.
It created a lot of stress in the beginning, but we stuck to our guns, the family member has since come around (or at least is doing a good job of pretending they have come around, which is good enough for me I guess!)...in the end, I'm glad FI and I didn't change our minds.
But I was wondering if anyone else had someone close to them that hated the idea of a DW and wasn't afraid to let them know it?

I have familiy members that won't be attending because of it, and have made that fact well known...

I think no matter what you do for your wedding, there will always be naysayers. I think people oppose DWs more because they think that it's going to be more expensive and I guess it's so untraditional (although getting more popular) that it freaks them out. But, I think it's important to stick to your guns and do what you want to do otherwise you'll be disappointed in your special day.
