Wow! 300 guests, huge elaborate centerpieces, massive cake, SDE videography, 5 photographers and $70,000 later. Totally not for me.
Now I understand why the couple specifically asked for money on their website (so tacky) and they had a cash bar (tacky again). A lot of guests and even close friends were taken back by the cash bar thing and made comments like I spent a lot to fly here and they have a cash bar. One couple even mentioned that they could have taken the money from the centerpieces and hosted some drinks. Ouch!
It totally confirmed our decision to have a DW.. We watched as they were taken from here to there, and time for this, and time for that. They had no time to really enjoy their day, their meal, or even the cake. To each his own I guess.
What was nice was that all of FI's friends are planning to come to our wedding and they practically begged us to keep it simple so they could relax and have fun. I'm so glad they are on the same page as us!
