Re: Poll / q&a

  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for?
For me it was the whole package. Even though we wern't even a "full DW" I lived that people all came together as a group to celebrate us in a wedding that was different than any of them had even been to, form all staying in the same hotel for a week, to getting on a boat for the eremony

why is the location important to you?
because  the ocean is such a part of who we both are

What is the best advice you have received so far?
during the planning, I really tried to pay attention to the g/b/u posts from previous knotties. everyone usually had this common theme:  no matter how much you plan, at least 1 thing will go wrong, but how you react to it can make the difference of a speed bump or a disaster. Basically choose to make things speed bumps, and enjoy the day/ week no matter what.

  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for? EVERYTHING! I'm excited to have a nice relaxing "weddingmoon"

why is the location important to you?
FI and I went to FL for our very first big vacation for my birthday.  His Uncle Tim took us to Clearwater for the day and I fell absolutely in love!  From the day we visited Clearwater I said I was either going to get married there or in Hawaii.  Since it was so much less expensive to do it in Hawaii and people can drive from MI if they want to. That is how we decided on Sand Key Park Clearwater, FL

What is the best advice you have received so far?
Don't sweat the small things. There are going to be a few bumps in the road, but roll with the punches and don't let them bother you.

  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for?

I'm most excited to be getting married to my best friend and soul mate.

why is the location important to you?

I've always loved the beach and I wanted to go somewhere exotic that I'd never been to before. Kevin is a easy going, he said he will go where ever I want as long as we are getting married. He would get married in a court house if thats what I wanted.

What is the best advice you have received so far?

The best advice I have gotten is to not worry about the little things you can't control AND know that you are not going to please everyone all the time, so don't let ,little comments about a DW upset me.
  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for?
Getting married to the man who brings me more joy than I ever thought was possible.  And doing that with a handful of guests, rather than a huge monstrosity of a wedding that I couldn't possibly have the time to enjoy.

why is the location important to you?
We chose Savannah because we have vacationed there twice and LOVE the city!  It was during a walk in one of the squares that FI mentioned for the first time that he intended to marry me.

What is the best advice you have received so far?
To do what makes US happy, not what my family was pressuring us into doing.  I know that's advice that is given to brides often, but once I took it, planning has been MUCH less stressful.
  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for?

The vacation aspect of it. I'm hoping once I get to Cancun I can relax asap because we are only there fora week, and only for 2 days longer then everyone else. So...I'm hoping I can find time to relax, unwind, and enjoy Cancun with my new husband. :)

why is the location important to you?

Honestly it probably could have been any tropical location. We have never been to Cancun, and we almost picked Puerta Vallarta. We picked a location in Mexico because we figured it would be the easiest location for our immediate family to get to. Plus we both have friends who have been there and everyone says it's gorgeous.

What is the best advice you have received so far?

I was obsessing over all these little details and things, in reality the only thing that matters is that FI & I will be married! That has been helpful to keep in mind.
  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for?
Having family and friends join us as we marry each other!!!

Why is the location important to you?
Brian wanted to be "barefoot in the sand with a flower in your hair" from day one!!!

What is the best advice you have received so far?
I'd have to agree with Krissie:
"During the planning, I really tried to pay attention to the g/b/u posts from previous knotties. everyone usually had this common theme:  no matter how much you plan, at least 1 thing will go wrong, but how you react to it can make the difference of a speed bump or a disaster. • I have been surprised that the ceremony is what I am most excited about.  I can't wait to stand on the beach with the love of my life as we say our vows in front of the most important people in our lives.

Hawaii was important to us since that's where we took our first vacation and we have always wanted to go to Kauai.  We were also totally turned off by the idea of a big wedding.

The best advice has been given to me by watching other knotties through the years I have been on the knot.  Things don't have to be perfect and the most important thing is that I will be marrying Tony.  Nothing else really matters.

  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for?

First and foremost, getting married to the most incredible man on this earth.  Secondly, having a beautiful vacation/honeymoon with close friends and family.  I'm excited I get to relax and lay on the beach for four days before the wedding... that ought to help with stress. :)

why is the location important to you?

I wanted Mexico, but the Mayan because it's the most beautiful, and I had already been to PV in a previous vacation (as had FI).

What is the best advice you have received so far?

I think more before than now, everyone had something to say, or an opinion about this and that and how it should be done etc, that I learned I was never going to make everyone happy, and the only two people I should be worried about are Fi and I.
  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for?
Pete and I have been on some amazing vacations together, but we've never had the chance to go with friends or family. I can't wait to share Hawaii with the people we love the most.

Why is the location important to you?

We love Hawaii and had a special time In Oahu the first time we went. We considered a lot of places for our wedding, but this was the first place that felt right.

What is the best advice you have received so far?
There are so many different wedding trends and ideas out there that it can be overwhelming. What helped me was the advice to plan a wedding that authentically reflects us as a couple. That helped weed out some of the details and DIY projects that can make planning stressful. If it isn't us, we are skipping it.

  • What part of a your DW are you most excited for? I am most excited about just hearing the words " I pronounce you man and wife" and letting our new life together start!!!

why is the location important to you? We both agreed on St. Thomas because of a few things, cost, location and my mother stressing the hell out of me. I see it as a wedding, family reunion and vacation. My mother sees it as not caring and letting his family have their way *shakes head*.

What is the best advice you have received so far? Well since I  have only a year to the day, make the most of your time. I already had my bridesmaids pick out there dress and let them pick between the two colors. I just need to find my dress and finish paying for the wedding. Send the save the dates and invites and pick up the marriage license when we get to the island. That is it! Most of my check list is done except for small things.
    Anniversary
  • so cool learning more about some of you :) Love you ladies.

  • Good idea!

What part of a your DW are you most excited for?
The whole experience - from putting it together in the last couple days, to welcoming our guests at the Welcome Dinner, to getting ready, to FI seeing me in my dress, to a beach ceremony (!!!!!), to a cozy dinner w/ our guests after, to the partying that will go on during the whole time our guests are in HI with us.

why is the location important to you?

FI and I went to Maui in 2008 for a vacation and just fell in love with it.  It made us happy to be there, and we want to share it with those that we love.

What is the best advice you have received so far?
    1) Have the wedding that you both want to have.  People will give you their advice, but make sure to have your wedding.
    2) If it's not something you'll remember in 5 years, don't stress about it.
    3) Enjoy being engaged, and don't get caught up in crazy WR details all the time.
