Riviera Mya in Feb '11

Does anyone have any suggestions for all inclusives they have been to in Riviera Mya?  I think we are pretty set on that area.  We are going to try to keep costs to <$2000 pp for a standard room (incld. airfaire) to keep it affordable for our friends and family. I know this limits us a little. Or are there other locations any of you have gone to about that price? We don't want to do Jamaica.

Also a bit frusrating right now... there are no costs up yet from the resorts.  When we  started looking in January the travel agent said they post prices at least 10 months ahead.  The prices only go out to Mid Dec.  Our TA can't get any prices either.  We want to start planning but can't do much until the resorts have prices.

Thanks for your input!

  • There's lots of great resorts in the mayan - at this point, I would say trip advisor is your friend - read lots of reviews (with a grain of salt, as you can never make everyone happy).  You need to decide what you need in a resort (family friendly vs adults only, cost per person, pools, disco?)

We got married at the Occidental Grand Xcaret because it met most of our requirements and was the only one we could find in our price range (we got married at the busiest time - spring break, because i'm a teacher).  The grounds were stunning, but lots of familiies.  The food was only ok, but the wedding and semi-private reception were amaaaazing.  We went to the El Dorado Royale for our honeymoon - it was really only couples, but the food was five star, all restaurants, and all amazing. 24 hour room service, a gorgeous beach, etc.

So you gotta decide what you need, and then I would find a travel agent to specializes in weddings (don't do some random person).  they will be instrumental in finding what works best for you!
  • Thanks Misty! I'm happy to be here :)
Sandal Girl.. Thanks for the advice.  I have been looking a lot at trip advisor and have got some pretty good ideas.  I was thinking of having an adult only since the only people coming with young kids want to leave them behind... I've noticed this can increase the price a bit though.  I think I found a good travel agent. She's done a lot of DW and had a whole book.  I just met with her the once but we have been e-mailing.  Once priced are out we will meet with her again.
    Thanks again!
