Can I post here?

My FI and I decided over the weekend to scrap our big wedding plans and elope ot Vegas with two of our closest friends.

Long story short, this is our 2nd wedding (first to eachother) and family (mostly mine) were NOT supportive of our wedding plans.  Not the marriage, but the idea of having a big wedding for again.

Has anyone on here gotten married or is getting married in Vegas?  I don't want the Elvis wedding or anything like that.  We still want to keep it tasteful and somewhat traditional.  Any help or advice would be great!

Re: Can I post here?

  • WELCOME!

I know there are one or two Vegas brides on here... I now Lindsay is for sure...  but I don't have any advice besides I know it can be done :-)

I wanted to chime in just to welcome you and to tell you that of course you can post here :-)...

  • Thank you!  We aren't 100% set of Vegas, it just seems the obvious choice.  My family just became too much to argue with so we canceled everything (and lost about $2500 in deposits but since my mother assured me no one would come to a 2nd wedding anyway I figured I'd chalk it up to lesson learned) and decided we are eloping.

I still want a somewhat traditional wedding, nothing crazy.  I have two wedding dresses, (long story but I have two totally different dresses) and would like to use one of them since I am not having any luck selling either of them.

  • Tiffany got married earlier this year and was a Vegas bride. She had a really beautiful wedding. Idk if it's possible to dig up her planning bio but there was lots of good info there.
  • Of course you can post here. As others said there are a few Vegas brides here. I am not much help since we are doing Florida or the Caribbean. Keep us updated!!

  • Congrats and welcome to the board! I'm eloping to Hawaii as this is FIs and my second marriage as well. I just had a friend get married at Casaers and they loved it. They picked a package as to what they wanted. As far as I know it was rather inexpensive. Good luck!

  • Congratulations and welcome! We are always happy to have more DW brides here. There are a couple other Vegas brides that should be able to help you, as well as some past Vegas brides.  Sorry to hear about what's going on with your family.  I think it's horrible to say no one would want to go to your wedding.
  • Congrats and welcome to the board! There are definitely some great Vegas brides that have been on/are currently on here! Can't wait to hear more about your plans as you continue planning your special day :)
  • I want something still traditional.  I don't want to be married by elvis or anything like that.  The craziest part we have is the chapel we have our eyes on.  Jon Bon Jovi got married there and I am a DIE HARD Bon Jovi fan so that is the ultimate for me!!

Right now, I'm worried about how to get my dress and veil there, my FI suit there, what hotel to stay at, where to get hair and make-up done and things like that.
  • My parents are very old fashioned.  They are in complete support of my marriage to my FI.  They adore him!  They just can't see spending money on a wedding when they figure we've already had our "big white weddings".

Anyway...we are super excited to be going away for our wedding!!
  • Welcome!!  I'm Lindsay, the Vegas bride =)  I can answer lots of your questions.  There are tons of options for Vegas, you can do elegant and traditional or fun and funky and everything in between.  I've gathered TONS of information from hotels/independent chapels/restaurants that I'm more than happy to share.

This board is AMAZING!  You seriously found the best board on TK.  Congratulations!
