Favor Advice....

I'm looking for a unique idea for favors.

The only one I've been able to think of is a kind of trading card, like baseball and hockey players have.  Only the picture on the front would be of the two of us in our Slowpitch uniforms (that's how we met) and at the bottom would say 2010 - Forever.  On the back, we would put our "relationship stats" - kind of like the players stats, only have how we met, the day we met, first date day and location, where our first kiss was - that kind of stuff.

Its the only original thing I can think of, and have been racking my brain for awhile.

What do you guys think of it?
What are you doing for your favors?

Re: Favor Advice....

  • I didn't even know favors were given out at weddings until I started planning my own and realised they'd been given out in the past.  So we're not doing any.  Most favors get left at the end of the night anyways.

I think it's a cute idea, but I'm just wondering how that would work? I know nothing about baseball cards, or any type of trading card for that matter, so I would probably just look at it, think "that's different" and set it back down. But if your crowd would be into that it may work.
  • We're doing hershey kisses and poker chips with our name and date- FI and I are HUGE poker fans :)

  • While it's a cute idea, I personally think favors should be something actually useful for the guest. I have no need for something with another couple's name on it, ESPECIALLY something I can't use. I did get an engraved stemless wine glass from a friend's wedding once- useful, but I've still never used it. It seems silly that someone would spend $1 on something I will either not take or toss in the trash.

Your best bet? Something edible. It won't add to the clutter in someone's house, and people will be able to enjoy it right away.
  • I think that's an incredibly adorable idea! I do agree with PPs that say they might not end up taking them with them. However, I do know a good number of people who would take them, it just depends on the personality types of your guest. I know everyone from my fam would probably keep it and a few friends. I do love that idea and think you should use it though. Maybe if you're not going to do them as favors, maybe you could turn each "stat" into a table number?

  • I think it's an adorable idea, but I agree that the favor should be something for the guests.  Although I'm sure everyone would love to have that, maybe adding a candy to it would be nice.  Don't some of those trading card packages come with candy or gum?  Maybe you could come up with a cute way to package it like that with a little chocolate bar under the card.

  • While I think its a cute idea...if I were your guest I'd leave it on the table. There's no use value. Even if you put candy in...if I took it home I'd eat the candy and your picture would eventually end up tossed in one of my get rid of clutter tantrums.

  • Thanks for the input!  I guess my thinking wasn't really around useful.... of all the weddings I've gone to, the most useful favor I got, was a pen with their names and wedding date on it.  Most people up here just donate to a charity in the "name of the guests", but that's it.

  • I think it is a cute idea...

we are doing either hugs and kisses (herhseys) wrapped in orange tuille with a tag that says Hugs and Kisses from the Bride and Groom

or we may use maple cookies as favors as well we haven't quite decided yet.
  • We're doing Lake Champlain Chocolates for everybody. I'm going to buy a big bag of milk chocolate and dark chocolate coins and everybody gets one of each. Not only am I anticipating that they will all be eaten by the end of the night, but if they aren't I get to eat them, and that rocks!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • It's definitely a cute and original idea!
I am with other posters though who said it might just get tossed or filed somewhere.
I still think you should do it, even if just a few printed up to go with the guest book or on gift table or something like that...

I love looking at all the ideas for favors but I"m in super budget mode so I wasn't even going to spend the money on favors at all.  But since we are big fans of M&M's and both our first names begin with M and FI last name is M (and my middle is M too yikes)  FI wanted to do the colored M&M's with the photos and date on them.
Since he's taking an interest in it and we certainly wouldn't let those yummy things go to waste, that's our plan.

  • I wanted to do something our guests would (hopefully) use after the wedding...we decided on glass photo coasters. We got them during a great sale:

We aren't doing favors either.  Our shuttle is really expensive and I would rather everyone has a safe and sober ride.
To OP I love this idea.  I tend to leave favors, but I would take this for sure.  It's adorable!!
