Hi everyone...
I haven't been on the board for the past few days because FI and I were back in our hometown last Tues-Thurs. I gave a talk at our old high school about science careers and then we had lots of wedding appointments:
1) Florist: (white cottage gardens, Amsterdam NY)
Finalized all of the things that I had talked to him about a few months ago. Here's the highlights
- My bouquet: white garden roses, stems wrapped in my great grandmother's handkerchief (something old)
- Bridesmaids: 3 white hydrangeas, stems wrapped in tiffany blue ribbon
-Bouts: single white freesia
-Moms and grandmas corsages: freesia again
-Ceremony decor: Center aisle roped off with tulle, aisle runner with tiffany blue petals (silk petals to not stain my dress), tall vases with tiffany blue floating candles to line the aisle, tall hydrangea floral arrangements at the top and bottom of aisle (these double as centerpieces).
-Centerpieces: Tall vases with ball of hydrangeas on top, may also need to do some low centerpieces too to stay in budget
-cake: white garden roses and tiffany blue ribbon on the bottom of each tier
2) DJ: (Mike Garrasi, Music Man Entertainment Amsterdam NY)
-talked to him about our music preferences...no country, Sintatra type music for cocktail hour, type of music we'd like for reception
- up-lighting...we'll have 8 tiffany blue up lights
-monogram lighting on the dance floor
3) Menu planning at venue (Hall of Springs, Saratoga Springs NY)
-Picked out all the cocktail hour food...10 cold, 7 butler passed, and 2 hot apps
-Picked salad course: tomato, fresh mozzarella salad
-Wines to be on the tables: Sauvignon Blac and a Malbec (all other varietals at the bar...full open bar all night included in package as well as champagne/sparkling water served as guests arrive for ceremony)
-Dinner choices: Shrimp and crab stuffed sole, rib eye steak, butternut squash rigatoni
-Cake: Red velvet, with cream cheese filling, and buttercream frosting
-dessert table: Italian pastries, coffee bar, and after dinner liquors
-Late night snack: mini burgers, mini milkshakes, onion rings, etc
-linens: ivory with aqua napkins (very similar to tiffany blue)
-finalized ceremony start time 6pm
-worked out details on how the day will flow
Some other DIY projects that I can now cross off my list:
-I was going to make table numbers that reflected places that are significant to FI and I (example, Cape Cod table), but the venue will provide the table numbers and honestly I'm fine with the generic ones. I'm so over DIY projects at this point!
-Venue is providing votive candles for the tables, don't need to buy those
