Before, I had everything all picked out and knew exactly what the centerpieces were going to be. But, unfortunately, the items I was going to use are no longer available and out of stock or significantly more expensive than they were. I've had to re-work a lot of ideas to try and figure something out and am having a hard time.
Something that FI and I came up with was to take 5-6 hardcover books (we have tons) and stack them, with a large mason jar on top with a votive candle, and 3 small mason jars around the books on the table, also with candles. My only thing is that there are so many different hardcover colors, and our wedding colors are copper, burnt orange, burlap brown, and ivory, that I don't want all the books to look too off from everything else. And I don't care too much for just the plain jars.
So, I was wondering about covering the books in that brown grocery bag-type paper and stenciling on them in copper craft paint (something scroll-like and ornate), and then dressing up the jars with lace or sponged on copper (or gold, since it sort of mimics a little of the brown in the burlap and the book cover paper). And maybe adding a few carefully placed fall leaves around the set-up.
What do you all think? Would this look stupid or cheesy? In my head, it looks great, but I'm worried it'll come out kinda bland. Any suggestions?
