Wedding nightmare! And question.

Happy Sunday, ladies. Boy, I had a pretty bad wedding nightmare last night! We weren't ready for ANYTHING. We hadn't made any escort cards or table seating and so no one knew where to go. It was about ten minutes to go and I hadn't gotten dressed, done hair, or makeup, and the girl who was going to do my hair was saying she didn't have time. It was raining. BUT, the point that's relevant to ask about, the part that when I woke up, I was like, "Oh, wait, I DO need to think about that!", was the photographer wasn't there yet. My contract with the photographer left a disclaimed for timing TBD. Our ceremony starts at 4:30, and we're getting ready at a hotel about five, ten minutes away. I'm thinking I will probably leave for the ceremony venue at 3:30 to make sure I'm there before most guests (more a big deal for transportation) and to do last minute getting ready there, but I would kind of like to have my photographer there for getting-ready photos. Are you ladies doing that? How early are your photographers getting there? And any freaky wedding nightmares waking you up in the middle of the night? ;)

Re: Wedding nightmare! And question.

  • Our ceremony starts at 4pm and we are doing a 'first-look', so our photographer told us to be at the venue by 1pm.  After the 'first-look' we are going to get as many formal and family pictures done an hour before guests start arriving.

I've had a couple wedding nightmares, the worst one was we had a meeting a month before the wedding to finalize everything with the wedding coordinator at the venue, only to find out that it was double booked and they missed it, in which they go back and see that the other person had booked it a year prior and I had booked it 8 months prior so they gave it to the other couple and we were stranded.  That one did wake me up in which I couldn't get back to sleep for a while because I kept thinking about it!

  • Our photographer is supposed to meet us an hour and a half before the ceremony, which is at 1pm so he'll be there by 11:30am.  That being said, I'll be at my parents and my fiance will be at our house so I don't know how he's going to get pics of the ladies and the guys separate.
I have had probably close to a dozen "it's my wedding day and nothing's ready" dreams haha.  They always freak me out!

I haven't had the really bad dreams yet but I do have trouble sleeping when I'm tossing and turning trying to decide what needs to be done, vendors to pay, etc.
    It's probably the same, though!
It's still loss of sleep ;)

  • I thought I was the only one having wedding nightmares! In the worst one yet I was about to walk down the aisle (in the wrong dress, mind you) and realized I forgot to get our marriage license.  In another one I forgot to send invites, and in another my mom changed our wedding venue last minute and the place she moved it to was this stuffy wedding factory society type place. Horrifying.

Anywho, re: photography...our ceremony is at 4 and our photographer is probably going to meet us around 1:30.  We're all getting ready there, though, so she's coming to get the getting ready shots.  And FI and I are not seeing each other before the ceremony, so we're going to do bridesmaids/me and groomsmen/FI shots in that time, then some with me and my parents, and FI and his.  That'll also leave the photographer plenty of time to get some detail shots of the ceremony site.

This is about the same timeline we're working with, so good to know.

And thanks, ladies, for sharing your similar wedding nightmares! I think they'll all be more and more common the closer we all get to October!

  • I blame you for the nightmare I had last night!  I dreamt it was the day before the wedding and I just realized I forgot to get the alterations done on my dress.  It's too long since I'm only 5'2 and it has a lace trim so it'll take a litte work to hem it.  I was scrambling in my dream to find someone who could do it in just a few hours.  YIKES!
