October 2012 Weddings

what would you do?

all went well at my 1st fitting although i am a little annoyed  because i noticed the belt i had bought from the same store is a slightly different color and when i said something the seamstress < independant from the store > agreed with me and the women ( the same one that worked w/ my bm not with me... who was very rude to the my girls and barely any help) said "oh thats cause they are from differant designers" would have been nice if they told me that when i bought them!!! it doesnt look bad but i did notice... i will probally be the only one who does!!! AND then she goes on to tell me that since my dress is called diamond white if anyone wears pure white around me my dress will look dingy- um also would have been nice to know that before we ordered the guys tuxs shirts and grooms vest in white!!!! "oh that can be changed" was her reply!!!! yes but my flower girls dress is also white!!!!

so now i am wondering if i should leave it the way i have it them all in white or change it so only the flower girl is in white... what should i do? if i change them i will have to buy a new fg dress but i dont want my dress looking bad next to fi in all our pictures!

Thinking the same thing!  Some people.
  • I really don't think that the GM shirts or groom's vest being white will make your dress look dingy.  It's such a small amount of fabric and not even on the outside of the outfit that it would be shocking if anyone noticed it.  For the FG dress, I think it depends on the materials of the dress compared to your dress.  Can you get the FG dress and put it next to your dress to compare them?  I don't think it would be that noticeable - it's a considerably smaller amount of material, but if you end up changing it, you should pay for the new dress, not the FG parents.

Good luck, relax, and I'm sure it will be ok!
  • I wouldn't worry about it. My friend wore a diamond white dress and her husband's shirt with his tux was WHITE white and her dress did not look dingy at all.

  • My dress is also diamond white, all the other white in my wedding are WHITE. But I don't care. My dress is too awesome to look dingy! And I'm sure yours is too!

  • I am wearing an ivory dress and the GM shirts are white and the grooms vest is off white. I've seen ivory GM shirts done and personally I think that looks dingy.
  • Thanks ladies- when she first said it  i was like "oh well... no big deal right? its not the end of the world" but then she proceded to pull out a white flower girls dress to hold up against my dress to show me how bad it looks!!the store lights are super bright too!  really lady come on are you trying to upset me??? then as i was driving home and i started thinking about it i was like "oh my god is everyone going to notice!!!!??? and talk about it? how will the pictures look .... blah blah blah" so then i started making it a bigger deal then it really had to be in my head! but i know my dress is fab and i dont care if someone < fg > is wearing a lighter color than me  and that fi's shirt is lighter who cares!!!!

thanks for setting my thinking back to my first reaction!!! i was starting to lose it!!! i really dont like that lady at the bridal shop! i didnt like her when she was "helping" my bridal party and then she makes those comments to me!!! ugg i hope she is not there everytime we go in! i didnt have a problem with anyone else in the salon just this women!!!
