Flower Girl Shoes

I have two flower girls in my wedding and they are wearing ivory dresses (the same color as mine). My wedding shoes are dyed orange and I was planning on having my flower girls do the same. One of the girls parents is perfectly ok with this. The other not so much. She keeps insisting that the shoes be ivory so they can be worn again. She also keeps reminding me how expensive the dress was ($150) and that $20 shoes are way too expensive to be worn only once. I've offered to pay for the shoes and her response was that I should really consider how it would look with a t-length ivory dress and orange shoes and that I should really just get shoes that can be worn again. What do I do? I think orange shoes would be adorable.

orange would be super cute, but I'm kind of with the other parent... Ivory can be worn again, easily.  As a parent, when I buy anything for my son, I make sure he'll get at least 2 uses out of it.  We're not buying him a suit for the wedding until early September, just because I want it to fit right and be worn again at Christmas.

Could you get orange flowers or something to pin to the shoe or something to dress it up, without making it permanant?

sounds to me like she just doesnt like the idea of the orange shoes! if you offered to pay for it she cant be complaining about the $ bacause she wouldnt be paying for it. i think it would look very cute!

I think having the flower girls wear orange shoes is silly.  No one is going to notice what color their shoes are.  I think it'd be much better for them to have a pair of shoes they can wear again (even if you did offer to pay for the orange shoes).

If you are willing to pay for the orange shoes I really don't see a problem with it.  I respect where the parent is coming from, but if you are going to provide them, it shouldn't make a difference.  Think of the cute pic of your feet with the girls' feet all in orange shoes - adorable!

Seeing as how the girls' dresses are tlength and people WILL see their shoes, I say go for it.  Like a PP said, if you're willing to pay for them and the mom knows that, sounds like she's not  in love with orange shoes, which is fine since it'd not her wedding.

Do what you want and nevermind the negative nancy and debbie downer responses!
