My mom can't find a dress!!

Hey ladies!
I know I haven't really been here much lately but I have gotten so much of my DIY stuff done and I cannot wait to share pictures with you all. 

I'm also wondering if in your bridesmaid/mothers' dress shopping if anyone had run across a burnt orange/rust/spicy orange colored dress. I've seen a lot of satin in those colors but my mom HATES to wear satin. Not sure why, just the way she is.  I know we are getting close to the wire of not being able to order her one, but I'm out on a limb here.  She's been looking at more bridesmaid dresses than mother dresses, since she has yet to see a mother's dress that she even likes.  She wants long, and she's obsessed with shantung fabric.  I know it's alot but I'm killin myself over here trying to find one for her. I've found the color but in satin from alfred angelo and one other place that I cannot remember. I found a GREAT one from impression bridesmaids, fabric and color but not the length.

The only dress that she's tried on that she really likes is the WTOO 451 ( i was going to upload a picture but after a few tries, it still wouldnt work) but she has decent sized tatas and she's self concious about it. Also, the colors aren't right...i know...why did she even try it on!! This is the overall look that she's come to love...rouching, vneck and sleeveless. That's the other thing, she won't do one shoulder, strapless, spaghetti straps or cap sleeves.

Have you thought about going to Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, or Nordstroms?  Sometimes I think the Alfred Angelo and Davids Bridal mothers dresses look a little matronly.  She might be able to find a dress off the rack at one of those stores and have it altered to fit her perfectly.  Fall colored dresses will be coming into the stores by the end of the month, so she should be able to find a color that works.  Just a thought.

I have thought of that...a little.
I asked a cousin of mine, works at Saks, to keep her little eyeballs peeled.  I'll be sure to check at the end of this month or early next to see what those other stores have. Shopping pretty much anywhere in Michigan is the WORST if you're looking for a store like the ones you mentioned.  Maybe she and I will "have to" just plan a trip to Chicago...dang, wouldn't that be the worst.

Wow..your mom seems like she knows what she wants just can't find it...I can't even make mine go shopping! She is walking me down the aisle and is going to wait to the very last minute and not have something nice! She's been not doing well and is going to have surgery but they haven't sceduled it and she doesn't even want to think about a dress until after surgery because they told her she will likely lose a lot of weight. They may not even do it before!!!

My mom ordered a B2 by Jasmine bridesmaid dress. She had a lot of trouble finding one that she liked, as well. She didn't like the look of most of the mothers dresses and she is a little bit larger so it was hard for her to see what the BM dresses looked like since they're all really small. Part of her issue too was that she had a double masectomy forever ago and the person that put in her implants screwed up and they drift towards her sides, so her chest is definitely hard to fit. She finally fell in love with this dress but didn't like any of the colors.

Our bridal consultant has been amazing and she called the company, and they were willing to do a fabric change for a little extra charge, so she ended up with this color.

It hasn't come in yet, but the Jade chiffon colors seem to have a little more shimmer to them and more appropriate for the mother's dresses than the bridesmaid colors.

My mom's dress is copper colored by Jordan. It is a bridesmaids dress, but some of the other dresses were too matronly for her and it was the perfect color. <-clicky->

Sorry, heres my moms dress, not sure if the link above works. My mom is an odd shape and plus size (20w in the sholders and 28w in the hips) so it was horrible dress shopping with her. I was mortified when one lady was measuring her and told her that she would need a 5x with 2 panels. She might as well told her that she needs to wear a tarp. Anyway we went back to where I got my dress and my seamstress ordered a custom size for her which made her day. I have not recieved my moms dress yet, its due to come in sept but i would reccomend looking at the Jade styles and maybe getting something custom fit for her chest to make her feel more comfortable.

My mom also went with a Jasmine dress and if I remember correctly, they have the color you are looking for. Her dress is made from taffeta and has thicker lace straps and back. They had several that meet her criteria. Good luck!

My mom went with Alfred Angelo because she could build her own dress.  They allow you to choose the top and then the bottom.  So she got an A-line skirt and then a sweatheart top with a jacket.  They are also very reasonably priced.  And delivery was quick.

My mom hasn't found a dress yet either, but she's taking her sweet time. She doesn't want a matronly "mother of the bride" dress but she also doesn't want a strapless dress or anything satin. I think she's just going to Boston store, nordstrom, macys, etc

Hey ladies! Thanks for the help. Sorry I've been MIA, I cannot believe its already Wednesday!  Seems like it was just the weekend.
